a delicious starbucks breakfast sandwich
i've always sort of felt that starbucks was the walgreens of coffee shops. obviously convenient because there is a location within 2 feet of any other starbucks, just a little more expensive than other places, and there isn't any expectation of outstanding quality, but fulfilling a basic need - arguably a "need" concocted by the corporation, but whatever. point being: i've never liked their coffee very much (which i've heard is on account of them over-roasting their beans so they can sit on the shelves longer. and their pastries! god, don't even get me started) but, being that starbucks is the only coffee shop within a two-block radius of my office, i stop in every once and awhile if i need something.
however, the other morning, i had something at starbucks which changed my life: a breakfast sandwich. i knew starbucks had been selling mediocre sandwiches and crap, but no one has ever shared with me how amazing their breakfast sandwiches are. unfortunately, i made this discovery too late as starbucks has decided in october 2008 that they are getting rid of the only thing worth getting out of bed in the morning. i guess i'm REALLY behind on the bandwagon because there's even a petition website to save these sandwiches (which i naturally joined 5 seconds ago upon its discovery):
http://savethebreakfastsandwich.com. you can submit breakfast sandwich poetry and reminisce about your favorite breakfast sandwich experiences.
while i have no incentive or even interest to plug starbucks for anything, i will plug this sandwich, particularly as there are only 2 months left!
