Writer's Block: Whose part would you play?

May 23, 2008 16:36

This is such an awesome question, plus I haven't written anything on here for awhile so I just need to write SOMETHING to get myself going again... Because I keep putting it off and thinking 'I'll write something when I've got more time" but that never happens, so right now I'm sitting at work with an hour til my lunch break, and I am going to answer this question. So there!
So there’s two ways of taking this question, the first being which actor/actress would you replace on a TV show and the second being that you would be a new character on a TV show. And because I've got nothing else to do (well, except work, but I can do that later) I'm going to answer both. First up, who would I replace. I have a top 5:
5. Rachel from Friends. Because a) she’s the coolest of them all and, especially in the first season, she gets to act totally clueless sometimes, b) because she gets some pretty cool clothes and c) because that show ran for TEN YEARS and she got paid LOADS!
4. Pam from the American version of The Office. Because she gets to kiss Jim Halpert, and who wouldn't want that?! Michael Scott wants that. God, even Dwight wants that, deep down inside. You know its true. None can resist the Jim Halpert charm.
3. Elliot from Scrubs because she is simply one of the best characters ever. Also because when she got that make over in season three and had the most awesome hair and she wore that gorgeous black top that I've been trying to buy online desperately ever since. And so that I could gently hint to the writers that her and J.D actually do belong together, because if they dont in the end then it will break my heart, just a little bit.
Oh, and so I could say lines like 'Of course I'm holding back, I'm insane you idiot!" and "I talk to my cats. I talk to three separate shrinks about the fact that sometimes my cats respond in my mothers voice". Fun!
2. Taylor from The O.C. Firstly, access to the coolest wardrobe. Second, getting to make out with Ben Mckenzie (who was kinda odd looking in the first few seasons but OH-so-hot in season 4). And finally, she stalks people, she talks to much and is generally insane. I would hardly even have to act.
1. Blair from Gossip Girl. If getting to wear THOSE clothes and getting to kiss THAT boy isn’t enough (which it is, it honestly is. If that was all Blair did, just walk around in those clothes and make out with Chuck, then she would still make number one on my list) there’s also the fact that she totally wins at life, and everything associated with it, and she gets to be randomly moody and bitchy. It would be awesome!!

As for the second take on the question, the one about which new character I would play... Well, actually I'm still thinking that one through. I mean, I've decided on the show, which would be Gossip Girl. It was a toss up between that and The O.C but in the end (and after a random office poll) it was decided that I was more a New York City girl than a California girl. And here's the problem: What would my role be? I would love to be the girl that bad-boy Chuck falls in love with and changes his ways for, but Blair kinda beat me to it (and yes, he HAS changed his ways for Blair! He was just having a brief moment of insanity in the finale because right before she got shipped off, Georgina slipped him something. Some kind of 'act irrationally' drug. I know it sounds kinda crazy, but the writers were desperate, they needed something to keep B/C apart to add to the drama). So anyway, that option is out, because Blair got there first, and also because I dont want to be the fan-hated bitch who messed up Waldass. I would hate myself for doing that.
Ok, got it! I'll be Serena’s cousin that came down for the wedding and decided to stay with them at the Hampton’s for awhile after, but it'll all be so awesome that I'll decide to stay on in New York for awhile. I'll be a year or so younger than S, so Eric and I will be total besties, and we'll glare meanly at Jenny in the corridors for being crazy/stupid enough to take on Blair Waldorf, who by the way, will think I'm cool (for a freshmen) and let me sit on the steps of the Met with her when I'm not busy painting Eric’s fingernails or dragging him to a new hair salon. I'll be kinda weird (Josh Schwartz writes that well, think Taylor from the OC) and my main role will be as comic relief, until the writers realise that someone fun like my character (who I'm still considering names for) could be just the one to charm moody, self absorbed and serious Nate out of his moody, self absorbed and serious ways. Tada!

Wow, I got so into that and now that I'm back to reality its slightly disappointing to realise that I haven’t actually got a role on Gossip Girl to look forward to. Dam it!

Anyway, I think thats quite enough pointless rambling for one day!
