Round 12 - Carlton vs. Kangaroos

Jun 25, 2006 20:48

I'm surprised no one has done this yet. :))

Final Scores:
CARLTON: 4.4, 6.6, 14.8, 15.12 (102)
KANGAROOS: 4.2, 8.6, 12.8, 18.13 (121)

My heart was in my throat when I saw Fev go down. There was much yelling at Channel 9 to forget about the play and show me how Fev was.
According to the Herald Sun, the doc told him he wasn't going back on the field. He convinced the doc otherwise. That third quarter was amazing. 8 goals. Fev's return inspiring. Playing on with the strapped knee and Jeebus knows how many painkillers. He was nothing short of brilliant, the hangers amazing, the goals even better. And you had to laugh after he got awarded to 50, not smart behaviour, but damn funny.
Then it all fell away. I'd very much like to forget the 4th one happened.

And for those who never caught the game on telly, something interesting the commentators pointed out, Marc Murphy has statistically had the best debut season of anyone in AFL. If he doesn't win the Rising Star award I will be seriously pissed. Dad says I'm biased. Maybe so. Oh well.
The young gun finished off Friday night's game with a team-high 25 possesions.

So, a summary. Fevola has been cleared of any serious knee injuries. It looks to be hyperextension, not the ACL first feared. The word straight from the horses mouth [Pagan] is that he'll be sore for a few days, then he'll be as fit as ever. Fev has said he will play against the Lions.
Pagan has 'expressed concerns with how the leadership group as a collective performed'.
Back to Fev, he's still first on the Coleman Medal tally, 4 in front of Barry Hall. 48 goals from 10 games. Quite impressive. If he carries on with current form he could very well make the 100 mark by season's end.
Also a concern which no one in the media seems to have noticed was the impressive Scotland limping off the ground near full time. According to the Carlton site it was an ankle injury. Haven't heard anything to suggest it was too serious, yet.
And the Roo's Gibson was reported for striking Wiggo, though the video evidence is very inconclusive.

If you don't already know, it was a split round in the VFL, so not game for the Bullants this week. Sandringham next week, who beat the Bombers yesterday.

And on a completely different tangent, Craig Bradley was inducted into the Hall of Fame.
