This post is a tourism advertisement for the Philippines more than anything. Last night I finally figured out why third world country rides are better than anything Six flags, Disneyland, or King's Dominion have to offer.
They say that the adrenaline rush of riding a roller coaster is equal to the rush of having sex. Having that said, it suddenly becomes clear where this self inflicted terror comes from.
Global Carnival have rides not for the faint of hearts, or of stomachs for that matter. I wasn't ready then I rode "the flipper". This ride can only be described as teacups on steroids. The ride makes your cup revolve while making it spin at the same time on an axis. And the sensation you will feel after is exactly what the Earth would feel if it tried to make a full revolution around the sun in 3 minutes instead of 365 days. No wonder the nearest rest room was flooded with puke. Then theres the flying fiesta like ride which was also more intense than the one in EK. We even tried out the Haunted House which included a 3 paragraph intro you have to read to figure out why this "Mortuary" was haunted. I like haunted houses, and last night I must admit was one of the most enjoyable houses I've been into. After you've gotten over the popping surprises around the rooms you go through, there's a man that appears behind you wearing a mask and dragging a chain that makes for a wicked screech. He chased us around for like 30 seconds, but the feeling of being chased by a killer is so genuine that I almost fooled myself that it was real. Or then again, maybe I was just savoring the P60 haunted experience. There's the traditional carousel, ferris wheel, and the anchors away like ride that goes 360 degrees.
But the real fear comes not from the generated terror the rides themselves make. But with the constant idea in my mind that there is always a possibility of the rides breaking down. This roaming carnival looks pretty dated and the paranoid man that I am multiplies the fear because of this thought. That is why if you consider yourself a thrill seeker, I urge you to stop looking for it in other countries because they are here. What's the point of riding something certain in disneyland where nothing goes wrong. And if it does make sure that you will be compensated by Mickey Mouse for ten times you're worth. Here in the Philippines, when something goes wrong, you get screwed and that's it. It's like saying, what is more thrilling and daring, walking a tight rope with a net? or without?
