Bechdel Test is not a gauge of feminism.

I do not like the Bechdel Test as I do not feel it gives us any meaningful data. It does a decent smear job of revealing a "bias" in Hollywood but I feel that this line pretty well sums it up; "The theory is that “women will go to a ‘guy’s movie’ more easily than guys will go to a ‘woman’s movie,’” Passing the Bechdel test does not equate to a "Woman's movie" and routinely movies with women protagonists are not action-adventure blockbuster extravaganzas which is where most money in Hollywood is pumped into and received back from.
Some female lead action-adventure sagas have been tried, but do not generally do well, i.e. Resident Evil series, Ultraviolet, Aeon Flux, Tomb Raider & the dozen other terrible movies attempting to cast Angelina Jolie as an action hero. They may see a reasonable return, but do not seem to bring in the billions that studios need to see in order to fund similar movies.
Whether or not women have a meaningful conversation about something other than the main character is a terrible gauge for the feminism of a movie. Watching most movies, the Main character or villain tend to be the only ones that have ANY conversations not ABOUT the the main character.
Unless the main character is a female this is at best a dubious conversation of menial worth.
Until movies with female leads start to perform as well as the more traditional Male Hero's Journey films that keep getting made, the Bechdal test will tell us nothing about Hollywood's bent towards or away from feminine/masculine equality.
