A New Era of Responsibility

Jan 20, 2009 14:36

Just watched Obama's inauguration.

One part that stood out for me in his inaugural address:

"What is required of us now is a new era of responsibility - a recognition, on the part of every American, that we have duties to ourselves, our nation, and the world, duties that we do not grudgingly accept but rather seize gladly, firm in the knowledge that there is nothing so satisfying to the spirit, so defining of our character, than giving our all to a difficult task."

This one applies I think to the rest of the world.

It was a brief inaugural address. Not as lofty as I thought it would be, but sober and fitting enough for the crisis that America and the rest of the world currently faces.

I was also a bit irked that Chief Justice Roberts screwed up the Oath of Office. But Obama still has a second chance to do it right, WHEN (not IF, hahaha) he's re-elected in 4 years.

Congratulations PRESIDENT Barack Hussein Obama Junior! Now go and save the world.
