Skyfall OTP & Grimm Fic

Nov 11, 2012 12:34

I've always felt that I didn't have a true OTP, that although I love many pairings among many shows and films, there wasn't one that stood head and shoulders above the rest.

I was wrong.

Last night I went to see Skyfall and was reminded of the one pairing I have always come back to despite there not being much of a fandom for it: Bond & Moneypenny. At the end of the day, it will always be Bond and Moneypenny for me. Although they rarely have more than brief office encounters and until now we've never seen much more than a few kisses, they've always had such an undeniable chemistry.

I've been quite upset the last two Bond movies for a myriad of reasons but the absence of Moneypenny has been one of the worst offenses. That final scene with the coat rack and the Top Secret file... Skyfall redeemed Craig's run as Bond in every possible way but I confess the reintroduction of Moneypenny and her chemistry with Bond might just have been the highlight.

Truly, everything about Skyfall was just right and had so much respect for the classics. The numerous nods to the past were much appreciated as was the look into Bond's backstory. This was a James Bond movie and although the last two (particularly Quantum of Solace) can be essentially discounted, Skyfall had everything I could have hoped for: the return of Q and Moneypenny, an emotional goodbye to M, Connery's car, ejector seats, Scotland, bizarre credits, a fabulous song, an eerie villain...

So cheers, Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes. You've by far outdone yourself and I can't wait to see what else you have in store for us.

On another note, more Juliette/Renard fic!
