final post of 2016

Deaths: Somebody put forth the theory that 2016 has not had significantly more deaths than previous years, it's just the people dying are beloved by our generation. I was really, *really* thinking Carrie Fisher was going to have a full recovery. And it was a little mind-blowing that RonRon's death got a feature by a Real News Magazine across the pond.

Work had a Secret Santa. Names were written on scraps of paper and put into a cup. I picked myself. Insert "Triumph Kid" meme.

Computer: What? I can't hear you over the 'whooshing' noise my self-imposed deadlines are making as they fly by.

Got soaked Christmas Eve. Should have just decided to stay in, but Maury Povich had a real winner on his show that day. I was listening to it in my room, Mom had it playing. (Mom's not a fan of that sort of show, she's actually waiting for Family Feud and Maury is the show that leads into it.) Lady who can't keep her ankles off of her shoulders was making her *sixth* "You my baby's daddy!" accusation only to hear Maury say "You are NOT the father!" yet again. I had no interest in that drama, so I thought I'd get out of the house for the sake of not being a loser who spends all day at home wearing pajamas. I hit a fast food joint, and then the supermarket, then home. It was just a light mist at first then became a total deluge. So the yearly "tradition" of me getting rained on because I did not pay attention to the weather forecast lives on, only this time cold as fuck winter rain.

Livejournal: No, I am not moving.

The Election: Something I've been wanting to say since it all went down, but didn't because deadlines whooshing by make such a lovely breeze.

CALM THE FUCK DOWN!

Alright? Now pretty please watch this: https://youtu.be/rStL7niR7gs

The United States of America is not a dictatorship. Yes, the Republicans have the Congress and the Presidency. That is still not equivalent to a dictatorship.

A hell of a whole lot has been said, but here's something to consider that I don't recall seeing anyone else bring up:

*The* *Republican* *Party* is not a dictatorship. Yes, ostensibly, the sitting President is the leader of his party during his term, but the Party is not at the Party Leader's beck and call. He can't arbitrarily fire someone he doesn't like from the party like a company CEO. Actually, I have never heard of political parties being able to "punish" their own members, last time I checked.

So I say "Let's see what happens." For all we know, the Republicans might be (secretly) pissed about having him in office, but have to at least make a show of backing him because the convention voters picked him as the Republican candidate.

It's still 2016 in Arizona, so I'm still on time.
