Good Cop vs. Bad Cop
I've been thinking a lot about the good guy vs. the bad guy. Now, this most def is caused by urge to watch Say Anything so that I can fall in l0ve with John Cusack aka. Lloyd Dobbler all over again. If you haven't seen Say Anything then you need to hang your head in shame - but since I am such a super nice and amusing girl I have decided to give you a little re-cap...
In Say Anything John Cusack plays this teenager by the name of Lloyd - now I know most of you are thinking Mike Lombardie but Lloyd isn't like Mike. Lloyd is this cynical character who is desperatly in love with Diane Court. Now, Diane Court was raised by her father and does everything and anything to make him proud - including NOT GOING ON DATES!!! Realizing that she is "untouchable" the guys see her as a prize be won. Diane realizes this and avoids boys at all costs - well that is until Lloyd comes around...
So, the two end up dating - because, well, he made her laugh. While this relationship is slowly emerging I cannot help but SMILE. Lloyd is your typical guy. He's not hot, athletic, or super smart. He's jsut Lloyd...take it or leave it. And here is this girl who wants nothing but to smile and when this typical guy does it - well it shakes a lot of heads...
Mike Cameron: I don't know you very well, you know, but I wanted to ask you - how'd you get Diane Court to go out with you?
Lloyd Dobler: I called her up.
Mike Cameron: But how come it worked? I mean, like, what are you?
Lloyd Dobler: I'm Lloyd Dobler.
Mike Cameron: This is great. This gives me hope. Thanks.
Looking at this quote I cannot help but wonder if this is all the ladies NEED!!! A man who calls, makes us laugh, and takes us on a date? Who needs the guy that breaks down our egos, or kisses us and leaves? Some may say - where is the fun in that? aka. the craziness? I say if you watch five minutes of this movie you will instantly fall in l0ve with Lloyd and realize that NICE GUYS don't have to finish last...after all like most movies Diane breaks up woth Lloyd because she has a lot of shit going on. Lloyd tries to get her back by playing THEIR SONG "In Your Eyes" outside her window!!! Now, I know you ladies would be dying for that!!! Signs of affection from a guy that would do anything and everything for you!!! Come on Now...
In the end the two end up getting back together because we all know that love stories need a happy ending. Lloyd says...
Diane Court: Nobody thinks it will work, do they?
Lloyd Dobler: No. You just described every great success story.
And I wonder whether or not he is right. Maybe the people that we never expect to work out are the ones that we should be with? At the same time I guess that could mean the guy that kisses you and leaves you, refuses to call back, or better yet treats you like dirt! BUT wouldn't you rather spend your time with a guy like Lloyd - someone who would do anything for you rather than someone that will do anything to get rid of you?
All and all I just wanna give a shout out to the nice guys because I don't think you should settle for last. You deserve the best and sooner or later girls will realize what they have been missing! I swear!!! :)
