charloft Munday: Gender Roles

Dressed me up in women's clothes
Messed around with gender roles
Line my eyes and call me pretty

1. What gender of character do you play more of, male or female? Why?
Seeing as how I play only one character, I would say female. Why? Simply because I'm a woman myself and it's easier to relate to my character's feelings and emotions.

2. Is this different or the same as your own gender?
Very much the same.

3. Do you find that your gender makes it easier or more challenging to play your characters?
Easier? I guess. I mean, like I said earlier; I can easily relate to my character more realistically.

4. What sexuality / gender identity do your characters have?
Carla Piper is straight as a board. Though, she's not actually all that interested in relationships or any kind of affection. She can think a guy is attractive, but she rarely ever finds herself aroused or wanting to be a girlfriend or whatever. She's considered staying single for life, and she's not ashamed of it either.

5. How does your character's sexuality and gender identity define / affect their personality?
In some ways, it obviously does. But in general? Not really, no.

6. Do you tend to predominantly play characters of a certain sexuality? If so, why?
Well I couldn't see myself playing a homosexual or bisexual character. I myself have never been attracted to the same sex, so I guess that's how I chose Carla's sexuality -- it wasn't on purpose. It's not like I said to myself, "Okay, she's going to be hetero." No, it just happened.

7. To what extent to you write / play your character's sexual or romantic life?
So far, never. When the time comes though, I'll wait until it's where it cannot be seen. Not that I'm shy or anything, but what Carla does with someone else is her business and her business only.

8. How has the character's romantic life affected his character development?
Well, Carla has only ever had one kiss and boyfriend in her life so she's quite clueless on certain things relationship-wise. She's very aware on how little she knows and because of this, she's overprotective of herself.

9. Do you set 'ships' or plan for your characters to be together with other characters, or do you allow their relationships to develop organically? Why?
Organically, for sure. It's more realistic that way and I want Carla to be as realistic as I can (aside from her telekinesis). Also, it's a lot easier. I couldn't imagine planning out a relationship with another character. That would just be too difficult.

10. Do you change the gender identities / preferred sexualities of canon characters? Why / why not?
If I were to come across this, than no. At least, not at first.
