Just got back from the first day of AJSS today. How did my day go? Got to Ateneo at 9 and met Edmund by the Gonzaga stairs. From there, we went to the Escaler Hall, where the registration and orientation was. Saw lotsa familiar faces- Vanessa from LnK, Maureen and Steph from Review, Esqui, Mandee and Arriane from debate. Plus, I got the classes I wanted (except Philo) :) Found out I'd be in Physics and Psych, English A, Pilosopiya (i.e. Philo Filipino) and Math.
The past AJSS Alumni were there to welcome us. Napaisip ako sa sinabi ng isang speaker. He said "Just count on your Nerdok Instincts and you'll survive AJ." Hmm... Let me make a list of my Nerdok Instincts.
1. When in Megamall last month, I was drawn to the Physics and Pysch books rather than the clothes/bikinis the other girls my age go gaga about.
2. I enjoyed doing the SAT Practice Test kanina. I'd choose that over a shopping spree.
3. I'm pretty excited about learning Econ next year! Ive been reading about the subject online.
4. Getting a high from solving a hard math problem is something I consider one of the best feelings in the world.
5. On a school night, I can never ever go to sleep without fully studying for a test the next day. Even if I'm tired and I want to retire to bed, there's just something in my brain that only lets me sleep when all the studying's fully done.
Scaaaarrry.
Then we had our orientation. Of course, they made us watch the ever-brainwashing video about "The Ateneo Way" (i.e. choose Ateneo for college). Pretty ineffective for me though... Seems like I'm leaning towards UP nowadays. We then had the Library and Camp Tour.
After lunch at Mcdo, we had Group Dynamics (i.e. non-stop icebreakers and parlor/soiree games). We played, "The Country is Sinking", "Ang Pinaka_________", "Isang Tanong, Isang Sagot!" and "Drop the Blanket" :) Benta talaga sakin yung hosts! Their humor reminds me of Dea, Missy and Jolly's. :)
It's funny that I'd been dreaming about getting into AJSS since grade seven (no joke). I remember telling myself that the main purpose of AJ would be to meet "Quality Guys" (i.e. the smart, hardworking, sensitive, humble nerdy ones) since there is indeed a scarcity of this rare species in the world today. Looking back at my past sentiments makes me sooo grateful that I've already met the Best-est Quality Guy I've been searching for... I'm so happy that I'd be spending the summer with him in AJSS. :)
