* The ridiculous Tom/Danny/Zoe pseudo-incestuous threesome doesn't get any less so with repeated exposure. Obviously part of this is actor bleed, but by the time Tom and Zoe are going undercover as actual siblings you sort of expect them to start tearing each other's clothes off the minute they finish rehearsing their cover story.
* HOLY HELL, HOLY MOTHER OF FUCK, the Lieutenant Governor in the Zoe trial ep is ONLY FUCKING SHOLTO. I mean, I know they weren't setting up S6 that early, but nice continuity. (Also, I am reliably informed that the central premise of that ep is just Damned Silly, and furthermore I do think that if they'd had the writing team they had for S7 there wouldn't have been any of this nonsense about her managing not to sleep with either of the people she was honeytrapping, but good lord, Keeley Hawes can ACT.)
* I actually kind of legitimately adore Christine Dale this time through.
* Also Juliet. Actually, Juliet improves immeasurably post-6.08 when one can retcon every instance of her being handed the Idiot Ball into an instance of her acting perfectly cogently in the interests of an organization other than the Security Services. (Although Angela Wells probably was a legitimate cock-up.) Cf 4.04, when of course there's every plausible reason for her to want a dangerous terrorist in a room with the prince of We're Not Saying Saudi Arabia. (Also, I feel like someone should be keeping a concordance of countries and organizations that only exist in Spooks World.)
* Also in re. 4.04, is there a reason Zaf couldn't have gone on the truck? I mean, I can just plausibly fanwank it as "he's never managed to speak Arabic without a London accent," for example, but surely one line of dialogue could have cleared that up? Mostly I just desperately want an episode where Zaf gets to be James Bond, sigh.
* Also in re. Juliet, every scene from the S4 opener not involving either her or Ruth is just dumb, but those scenes that do are magic. I love Ruth so much my heart actually can't contain it.
* Oh, Carters. Carters, Carters, Carters. I am amused by the fact that everyone I talk to about them seems to have independently come to the conclusion that she performs acts of silicone-assisted depravity upon him on a regular basis. Apparently they have a look.
* Also, I can't be the only person ever to postulate that Fiona had a bit of a wild youth? I mean, I realize some of us might prefer to quietly pretend the rockstars ep never happened, but I am probably not alone in thinking there was something practiced in the way she went after that coke. Not to mention a certain tone to Adam's freaking out over same. I mean, given her backstory, it is possible to construct a narrative on the lines of "nice English girl finds herself in a bit far over her head at home, goes in for geographic cure in a big way, gets religion and married in an fit of change-my-life overcompensation," and that does sort of answer the big overwhelming question of what the hell a girl like her was doing in a marriage like that in the first place.
* I continue to find Harry Pearce disturbingly attractive, actually. Another victory for force of personality over externals. (I have not gone googling for pictures of Peter Firth as a young thing in Equus in the seventies, and I beg you not to show me any if you have them, because I'm sort of afraid it will fry something in my brain.) But there's a bit in the S4 opener where he's got his tie off and it's just a bit -- gnnnph. Also I want to know if he's that eloquent in all contexts. At this rate the only one I haven't talked myself around to fancying even a bit is Connie, and I have a mental footnote regarding her that goes a bit like "Jesus, she must have been Something in her day."
* What you should take away from the above bullet point, aside from evidence of my depraved mind, is "I have now overcome just about every barrier to the cause of getting Ruth laid except that of my own damned laziness."
* ROS TOMORROW NIGHT YES OMG ROS YES YES.
