I need a proper sex icon.
Because this has come up in chat recently, and I'm interested, and I'm stalling like a champion on getting my actual words in for the day, two questions:
1. Can you, and do you enjoy, re-viewing your own porn? (To forestall at least some of the inevitable wrangling in commments, the rough definition of "porn" shall be "content intended to be sexually interesting to the audience.")
2. What pushes a smutbunny over the edge between "ooooo, pretty thought, possibly I shall corner someone in chat and tell them all about it" and "I shall write this! with words! and give it a title!"?
In the interests of full disclosure, I shall start:
1. Yes. I actually have a good relationship with my own work once I manage to finish it. Hate writing it, though, at least when I'm doing it by myself; writing porn is all the anxieties of regular writing PLUS "does this sound ridiculous," "is this going to turn on anybody at ALL," and "dear god where did I have her hands?" Chatspamming back and forth is marvelous fun, although that stuff tends to wind up HORRIBLY iddy and not for public consumption; that stuff frequently makes me slightly embarrassed to re-read, because I can go VERY far over the top in the heat of the moment, but it's still a pleasant reading experience.
2. This is going to sound horribly pretentious, but: it has to be ABOUT something. Besides the fucking. There has to be at least an opportunity for me to get seriously stuck into character exploration, because... otherwise it doesn't have a shape, in my head. Believe me, I have read a lot of stuff that's solely there to be Shameless Porn, and I love it, and I wish I could do it, but I have a really, really hard time writing ANYTHING down in proper story form and I don't feel the same drive to do it unless there's something there besides the sex. On the other hand, I will TALK to people about Shameless Porn at great, great lengths, because that's not writing. That's just... interested conversation.
In other news, if anyone knows what I could be thematically exploring with the Adam/Fiona strap-on smut that's taken over my id recently, PLEASE feel free to suggest, because by GOD I need a proper sex story that isn't Horribly, Horribly Fraught.
