So it appears I may have spoken too soon yesterday, on the subject of not having enough works-in-progress: going on the vague memory of having started something several months ago, I went on a dive through my gdocs folder, and -- well.
I don't know how many of these I'll ever finish, considering that most of them were abandoned on grounds of "I have no idea where this is going," but -- good lord, some of these are so old they're more or less new again.
“Man in the Box” [A2A, Evan and Alex and obsession, roughly one-third done.]
The day of the memorial breaks bright as splintered glass.
The sunlit lands [A2A, AU where Keats wins, definitely started.]
“I’m sorry,” she will whisper; “you have to understand, I’m sorry, I --”
“but I don’t know its name” [A2A/Hellblazer crossover, John/Alex and ghost-girls, opening paragraphs.]
Wintertime in London is the same mean bastard it's always been.
“well you dance when you walk (so let’s dance)” [A2A, Alex/Shaz, one sentence and no idea how it works.]
For a second, all she can think is: it's been a while since anyone had to go on tiptoe to kiss her.
[no title] [A2A, sequel to
“Ease my worried mind,” mostly just a happy thought.]
[no first line, either]
[no title] [A2A, Caroline, mostly just a thought no so much happy as grimly determined]
[no first line, either]
“teeth in the grass” [A:TLA, Ty Lee/Azula, needs one more scene and a read-through]
Azula finds her in the baths, corpse-floating in the biggest pool and pretending to be the fish-girl who’d toured a few weeks with the circus.
[no title] [A:TLA, Zuko/Azula AU off
a discussion with
quigonejinn, likewise mostly a happy thought.]
[no first line, either]
[no title] [Discworld, vampire librarians, characters and situation]
[no first line, either]
“I May Never Go Home Anymore” [Doctor Who, Jason/Benny/Jack Harkness in various configurations, three lines and an idea.]
The thing to keep in mind is: really, All Of Time And Space sounds a lot bigger than it is.
“Natural Theology” [His Dark Materials, the Ballad of Asriel and Marisa, one paragraph and some dialogue.]
Proposition: the truth comes to us broken.
[no title] [Wire in the Blood, Tony and Carol not sleeping together, one scene.]
Carol lies in a cleared-out space on Tony’s floor, haloed in castoff books and papers, and Tony lies next to her.
