If you look under the tag tattoos you can see pictures of them.

There are a few things about pythons and snakes in general to keep in mind. Snakes need fed every week. I spend 15 USD a week to feed mine and I buy wholesale so I get the rats and quails for cheaper than I would if I bought them in a store. In a pet store I would spend about 24 USD a week to feed her. Any snake over 4 feet is going to need a custom cage built or purchased which can run 200 or more USD to get. They require heat lamps and other specialty equipments. Also I would never suggest owning a snake over 5 feet if you live alone, especially a large constrictor. It is a good idea in case there are issues... accidental bites of you or something else. Mine has never bit a person but she accidentally grabbed a towel once which was a nightmare. Another consideration is the need for a specialty vet that can handle large reptiles. She needs medications and sometimes special meds as captive snakes can be prone to respiratory infections if not properly cared for.

I love my snake but I am not going to lie and say it is easy. She is very difficult to manage. Just her size alone requires that I can lift 100 lbs .. about 45 kg. Snakes require handling if they don't get handled enough they can become "antisocial". Certain pythons make better pets than others. Burmese are relatively calm where as rock pythons can be prone to biting. So it takes research as well before acquiring one. can live 30 years or more so that is something to keep in mind as well. in 30 years will you be able to handle a snake that could be 25 feet long and getting close to 150 lbs? Can you provide a space for it that is 10 feet long and 5 feet or so wide at that time?

I agree with you, such exotic animals need much care and are obviously a huge responsibility (as any animal I suppose) . That 's why I think you can own any animal only if you can allow it. I think you're brave enough to own a python as there is so much to care about but also you're such a happy person I suppose, becouse of the same.

I never intended to own a large snake. I used to think people who did were dumb. LOL When I was working with our Human Investigations team they picked her up from a house. She was so sick that if someone couldn't immediately take her into foster she was going to be euthenized. At the time she was only 10 feet and much easier to handle. I have such a big heart that I took her in. After 6 months of fostering I started looking for a home for her. No one was interested and if I couldn't find her a home she would be euthenized. I just kept her. After 8 months she had just become part of my routine. It is interesting how things come into your life.

I've always believed that the animals we need to meet, as well as the people, find their way to us.

I agree with you! It is always so weird for me when you need to BUY yourself a pet after a long time choosing and 'fitting'. You won't ever buy yourself a friend (OK, some people try) or a sister so why will you buy a pet? It's so odd.
