For those keeping track at home, I haven't been healthy since sometime in early October. This is particularly ironic because I now go to the gym regularly and this is supposed to boost one's immune system.
Anyway, on Friday i went to my 15th year High School Reunion. This was surprisingly fun and in a "small world moment" a guy I was very close to in High School who also went to Colgate married a sorority sister of my wife. Got that? Anyway, in order to deal with seeing so many old faces, I had a few cocktails.
On saturday, we needed to leave the house very, very early to attend H.'s grandmother's 90th birthday party on Long Island (wheee!). So, I wake up and I feel horrible. My wife, G-d love her, thinks I am hungover and gave me about as much sympathy as a bookie gives a compulsive gambler who's always late paying. For the record, there's no way I could be that hung over on four week gin and tonics over five hours, but I digress.
So I go to the party and officially earn the prize as Least Social Guest, as my party strategy apparently involved not eating any food, slouching in my seat and occasionally whimpering. I was a hit with H.'s extended family, let me tell you.
The car ride back to connecticut was uneventful, as it was spent in the fetal position in the back seat with more whimpering. After looking at my wedding album for the first time (thank G-d I didn't get sick on it), I excused myself to lie down. H. came up forty-five minutes later felt my head, and took my temperature (102.9) and proceeded to take me to the hospital feeling pretty mortified she had been mad at me for being hung over all day.
I apparently have ear infections in both ears and viral gastroenteritis (bad, bad stuff). Sunday I slept for about 29 of the 24 hours (missing most of the Pats game) and yesterday I felt vaguely human, or at least like a great ape.
Today I'm back at work. How was YOUR weekend?
