Meeting Good Charlotte.

Jan 27, 2007 22:16

As you know me and Kirsty went to meet joel and benji madden from good charlotte. But it was a meet and greet with a difference.
We got up at 4 in the morning to get ready to go and arrived in London around 8am. We killed 45mins walking around Liverpool Street, which is a challenge when everything is shut.
Then we went and sat and waited in the cafe where the meet and greet was being held. After a while we went back outside to queue and having been there so long we were first in line. While we waited we chated to the tour representative from the record label. He had an intresting story to tell, he had worked with bands from bon jovi to backstreet boys. But of biggest interest was his role at Pink Floyds 14 day stint at Earls Court. His claim to fame is forcing the house lights up durring the set when part of the ceiling collapsed on the crowd o the first night.
Geezer aside making conversation paid off and we were given access to the room where the event would take place b4 every1 else, so we got kick ass seats.
The first thing after this was the free breakfast. Nice, but cold as all the food had been pre-cooked to deal with a breakfast demand from 30 people.
Then came another thing to set it this apart from a regular meet the band. We got to hear the new album. "Big Deal" you cry but it is actually fantastic and i can't wait now until it comes out over here.

Next big thing, joel and benji turn up to play a few acoustic songs for us.

These were:

Misery

The River

Beautiful Place

Young and the Hopeless

Where would we be? and

I Just Wanna Live

It doesn't seem a lot but me and kirsty chatted loads with them between songs, reminding them that it doesn't matter that Mom makes more sense instead Mum and that America invented slang when we bloody invented English.

Benji is not a vocalist nor a guitarist he is a crooner.

But the big convo I had which kirsty keeps mentioning is where joel mimiced my accent.

BM: So would you like us to play wounded?

Crowd: Yes.

BM: Do you want a Happy song first the the sad one?

Crowd: Yes

Carl: No, sad then Happy!

(Joel burst out laughing)

JM: Oh my God that's so British. "No sad then happy." (In a poor english accent) Oh your accents great. I'm not taking the piss. You sound like every other person in London.

Kirsty: We're not from London.

BM: Where you guys from?

Carl: Reading.

JM: Oh get you.

(Much childish face pulling between carl and joel follows)

Hopefully we will also be in Kerrang in the next few weeks as there photographer was there. But before we went to get the stuff signed Benji came up to me and kirsty to shake our hands. Again "Big Deal" But he didn't do this with anyone else there.

We then got our stuff signed, where instead of signing only 2 items the guys took all the stuff i had and signed it.

The facts are: They're really nice guys, the new album will be huge, and it was one of the greatest days of my life!
