Photo addiction

Yesterday I went to see my parents and took along the new camera to show off. At about 6.15pm the skies opened starting with hail and moving rapidly to snow (my parents live halfway up the side of the Mendips) and so I bid them a hasty farewell, and headed off down their very steep road and thence in the direction of Glastonbury (where there was sunshine) and not Shepton Mallet (where the hills were not even visible through black cloud). Passing through Glastonbury, the Tor was lit by bright sunshine against a backdrop of heavy black clouds heading Wells-ward. Photo op! I headed for the back road out of Street onto the moors where I could get a clear shot of the Tor.

I pulled into a layby and found myself the object of fascination for a field full of yearlings, shouldering each other aside for a better look at the strange human.

And I'll admit that I was as fascinated by them. By then, the dark background to the Tor had disappeared but I spent several minutes and many shots trying to photograph it without the power lines that ran across my view. And now the one I like the best is actually where they frame the Tor, because really, that's what it's like. It's not set in the middle of an Iron Age landscape, it's surrounded by a growing town with all the modern conveniences and it sits happily in the middle of them.

And then I got back in the car and got out again because I just realised what a great picture the trees made with the long shadows streaming across the road ... (and ooops, looks like I had the hood extended and didn't notice)

And then drove off and had to pull in again because suddenly all the trees had these huge clumps of mistletoe in them which was just amazing ...

And I had to change the batteries to get this shot and all the way home I had to stop myself pulling over to take more photos. Is this normal or am I now addicted to my camera? *g*
