The good news is TC passed its MOT.
The bad news is that it's still mis-firing badly with lost compression and the head will be going off to be re-seated.
More bad news is that the Herald is also mis-firing badly.
The possibly good news is that it may just be the plugs. I have a new set to try tomorrow.
Bike still okay, bicycle ditto. I'm happy enough using the bike for longer trips, like visiting father, and the bicycle for going to the gym etc. Hopefully, TC will come back running smoothly with its new electronic ignition and then be good for the winter at least. Perhaps optimistic thinking, given its age, but I can dream, right? I knew what I was getting into with 2 older cars and I'm hoping that spending out now will at least give me a head start on potential problems.
If the plugs (and new silicone leads when I can find them) don't do the job, it'll be checking compression on the herald and possibly another head making the trip to Hamlins in Bridgwater. But again, this is an expected problem with unleaded fuel in vehicles that were designed for 4 star and would have, or will, come up eventually.
