At Ease (2/5)

Keith really missed living in Derek’s house. Everything was updated, everything was large, and there was more space than he and his then fiancé knew what to do with. He knew though that when he would buy his first house he wouldn’t require half the shit that mansion had. It had two offices, a massive laundry room, the guest house, and even the pantry in the kitchen had been almost as large as his bedroom as a kid. He didn’t think he cracked the wine cellar door open an inch the whole time he lived there, especially when Derek’s wife had told him how much a few of the bottles had cost. He didn’t even spend that much money on alcohol the night they lost to Detroit last year in the playoffs and he had been hung-over for at least a week after that binge.

There was one room though that Keith almost cried about when it was moving day. It had four televisions next to each other to play different networks, different sport games. It even had a bar and a few game tables. Keith knew that wherever he moved next that he was getting a fucking man cave. Calling it a man-cave, and saying it out loud, automatically made anyone a douche so Keith merely called it the entertainment room and let his now new wife feel that she had some input, but she didn’t. People thought he had a bright future on the ice, but they didn’t get a chance to see his great maneuvering of the female species. At least that’s what he told himself.

His entertainment room had only one big television but it took a large portion of the room. Keith had a bar put in downstairs in the finished basement, and also a pool table, but his favorite part of the room was the two large couches in front of the television, almost side by side. His wife didn’t understand the need for two of them but he did and so did Korp. They both were laid out on the separate couches, where they had been for the past five hours with game controllers in hand, barely grunting at each other, let alone forming words and sentences. Even though the bar, a few feet away, had a fridge filled with beer, they had packed a cooler of beers so they wouldn’t have to get up.

He let out a large burp just as the screen highlighted itself in blood red.

“Fuck,” Keith breathed out before extending his arm and putting the controller on the coffee table in front of him. He looked over the sofa arm to Korp on the other couch who once again looked indifferent to it all. “You need to stop killing my dude.”

“But that’s the point of the game,” Korp replied before shutting his eyes and letting his head fall back on the cushion. His eyes stung from not blinking for probably a whole hour. “I never understand how you can do so little and be so exhausted.”

“We have been doing stuff.” Keith leaned forward and grabbed the almost empty beer bottle in front of him. He took a long swig, finishing it off and licked his lips. “We’ve protected planet Cintron from alien invasion, we’ve successfully recaptured the talon of terror from the adobe sacrificial temple, and you’ve fucking killed my guy four times in this game, you dick head.”

“I’m glad you can stay so civil about it.”

“Yeah, no problem.”

Korp opened his eyes when he heard the door slam shut from upstairs followed by some of the floor boards creaking. He sat up slightly to look over to Keith who had started to gather the empty bottles.

“I thought you said your wife was out with her friends tonight.”

“It’s Sami,” Keith said as he stood up, his arms full of the bottles and looked down at Korp who had gone back to closing his eyes. “He knows where I keep the spare key.”

Lauri yawned but inside his stomach dropped. He brought his arm up, resting the back of his hand over his forehead. He hadn’t seen Sami since they boarded the bus the other morning to the airport from the hotel.

After cleaning up the mess that Sami had literally produced he had spent ten minutes fighting with a sleeping Sami to get him back onto the bed instead of dangling the top half of his body off the bed. Lauri’s cheek was still tender from when he gave one last heave and flipped Sami onto his back, only to get backhanded unintentionally right in the face. He was sure that his Finnish curse would wake Sami up but the damn boy still stayed passed out. At that point he had started to ramble in his native language, cursing Sami as he pulled the blanket over the passed out one. He stopped though when he looked at Sami’s face. His cheek was still stinging then but his lips curled up slightly in a smile as he studied the sleeping man.

Sami’s face was still slightly pink, some of his hair breaking free from the rest and covering his forehead slightly. Lauri brought his hand up slowly, knowing Sami was out cold but still so hesitant to do what he so wanted to do.

“Why do you have to be like this?” he asked softly, “Sami, Sami, Sami…”. His fingers touched Sami’s closed lips, moving them softly over them, wondering what it would feel like if Sami parted them and…

He had brought his hand back went Sami made a small noise in his sleep and Lauri rolled his eyes over his own stupidity. The hair against Sami’s forehead would have to wait for another day.

The next morning, Lauri had thought that Sami would have forgotten the moments he was conscious in the hotel room but when he had come out of the shower and saw Sami sitting on the foot of his bed with his already packed bag, he kind of knew. When Sami looked at him, almost with guilt, Lauri completely knew then that nothing was forgotten. Sami stood up then, bringing the strap from his duffel bag up and over his shoulder. Lauri only watched him leave as Sami explained without looking at him that he would be in the lobby, an hour early, if he needed anything. The door closed behind him and Lauri had lowered himself on the bed.

“I need you.”

Keith’s burp snapped him back into the current moment and he sat up slowly from the couch as heard the stairs down to the basement start to creek. Sami was walking down casually, hands in his pockets looking completely gorgeous without even knowing it. He nodded his greeting to Keith and then turned his head, scanning the room, and then landed his gaze right where Lauri was sitting. Lauri didn’t know if he should take it as a good thing or bad thing when he caught Sami slightly hesitate before walking down the remainder of the stairs. The weariness Lauri was looking for in his face was barely hidden by a small smile.

“Hey Korp,” he said slowly. “I didn’t know you and Keith were friends…”

“He’s my neighbor,” Keith answered before taking a small handful of cashews in his hand and tossing them all into his mouth. “Hey Korpie, me and the guys are going out tonight to some bar outside of Scottsdale. Supposed to be really loud and a lot of chicks for you guys.”

“Oh he doesn’t-.” Sami began.

“I don’t really…”

“C’mon,” Keith urged. Lauri turned his gaze back to Sami when he heard him laughing softly.

“It’s no use,” Sami said with a shake of his head, still laughing slightly. “It’s not his thing, he just can’t-.”

“No I’ll go.” The instant regret he had in saying that was, at the moment, worth it to see Sami lose slight control and show his emotions, even if the emotion was slight shock. He locked eyes with Sami and smiling sweetly at him. Sami may not have known it but the challenge was set and Lauri hated to lose.

It had been years since Lauri had been to a nightclub but the discomfort only took a second to come back. Even from the valet booth outside of the club they could hear the music’s beat and the guys with him only seemed to get more excited as they neared the entrance while he only had crossed his arms and took a deep breath preparing himself. He caught Sami looking at him curiously as they were walking in, most likely because he wanted to prove that he was right and that he couldn’t go out and enjoy himself, and Lauri would never let that happen.

Years ago when he was still with the Rangers he loved this scene. Loved how the bouncers and the owners of the clubs knew who him and his teammates were, even most of the women knew that as well and even seemed to know even before they did that they would be there. He’d go with teammates who knew this scene, abused this scene to get what they want; who merely showed him how it was done and fuck, he enjoyed it. He didn’t even care about the women and the games they might have been playing, he just danced with them, bought them whatever drinks they wanted, and they let him take them wherever he wanted them to go and do whatever he wanted. He didn’t care after a while about how his ice time would suffer by continuing to go out late at night, he just knew he liked it and that was the only thing that mattered.

Lauri always looked back at that now and realized how lucky he was that he never got to one of those girls who saw them as targets to get money. It wasn’t until one of his teammates was accused of hurting one of those girls, something Lauri could never believe, before the unraveling started to happen. The press didn’t care what the truth was; only trying to find another headline from the scandal and the fabricated accusation, only trying to bring his teammate down for the pleasure of it all. It didn’t take long after that for the distractions to catch up, for the management of the Rangers to realize his play suffered tremendously from his previous year. His general manager with the Rangers was always considered by the players as just a numbers guy, only look at statistics to decide who the valuable players were. They all disliked the man but being brought into his office and being told by him that if he didn’t get better he’d be sent to the minors, or another team, was an embarrassment.

Lauri wasn’t one to really believe in blessings or curses for that matter, but going to Phoenix to play was ultimately the distraction he needed. Only a few players on the team when he arrived had met him outside of the game but no one knew the reason for his stats going down. He was a new person and they didn’t need to know about the old him.

The club was darkly lit now as all the other clubs had been. This club bathed everyone in multiple shades of blue that changed with the major beat of the music. It was primarily a large dance floor and from what Lauri could see there were at least three bars, but the place seemed to go on and on with no end in sight. The group walked up a small set of stairs stairs, almost in pairs, with Keith beside him, looking around almost like Dorothy did when she stepped out of her house into Munchkin Land, or whatever the fuck that little people land was called. Either way Lauri couldn’t help but laugh lightly. Sami looked back from where he was walking ahead of them with Taylor, and Lauri’s smile faded slightly as he looked back. It felt like a challenge from Sami to survive this clubbing experience and he wasn’t going to be the one looking away first. He was not going to let Sami win, no matter how much he hated to be here.

Scottie, who was leading them all, yelled something back to them forcing Sami to look away and turn his attention somewhere else. Lauri couldn’t hear from the back but he assumed Scottie was just telling them they were in their designated area because he was passing bouncers who didn’t even look at them, only roped off the area behind them.

There were already a few girls waiting for them in their private corner and they all smiled coyly. No matter what the city, Lauri thought, they all looked the same. They could have different color hair, different skin, and different size breasts but that hunger in their eyes was a telltale sign. If it was hunger for money, hunger for sex, or just a hunger for want, he didn’t know but either way they were going to try to use him as he and the guys were going to use them. He already hated them, hated this game.

A few of the guys took some of the girls down to one of the dance floors almost instantly and Lauri watched them leave the roped off area. Appetizers, Scottie had called them when he passed with one of the girls leading the way. There were a few girls still left in their roped off section but he pulled out one of the seats from the small table for himself, across from where Keith was sitting.  Lauri looked over the dance floor before taking a deep breath and looking to see who else was with them. Only Sami was left but a couple girls were already on both sides of him talking as if he was the most interesting person alive. Lauri could only roll his eyes.

A waitress had approached the table and Keith was already ordering his drink. Lauri shook his head at the offer to buy a shot with a smile. The waitress gave him a flirtatious smile as well and he watched her go towards Sami. He looked back at Keith who still had his eyes fixed on the waitress’s short skirt.

“Why do you come out here man? You can’t have any of these women. You’re just torturing yourself.”

“Eh, I don’t know,” Keith replied, pulling apart the cocktail napkin with his fingers. “I like my guys and I need a drink every now and then I guess.”

“And your wife is cool with this?”

“I’m not doing anything.” Keith shrugged before standing up, almost defensively. “I’m just going to go to the bar downstairs. If my drink comes, it’s all yours Korpie.” Lauri understood what that meant. Shut the hell up and stop overanalyzing. He opened his mouth to say something but Keith shook his head. “Forget it man, its cool. I just need to move.”

Korp didn’t really believe him because in two seconds the happy-go-lucky smile Keith had had was gone and because of him. Something was going on with him but he let Keith walk away instead of pressing him even more about personal stuff in this kind of place.

Lauri observed the dance floor again for a few minutes trying to ignore Sami as he laughed with the hungry girls in their own private party. He tried looking for his teammates on the floor that seemed to be moving in once cohesive unit. Everyone looked the same in the tinted lighting, moving to the slow beat against each other. He felt so uncomfortable in this atmosphere still and with that brought the feeling that everyone knew that he was the sore thumb. He didn’t belong.

“Is this your drink?” he heard next to him and he quickly looked over to see a girl pointing to one of the shots on the table. He hadn’t even heard the cocktail waitress bringing it. The girl tilted her head slightly with a smile that he recognized from his New York days and he inwardly groaned at participating in the game she was inviting him to play. “Or is it his?” Korp looked behind her and saw Sami still talking to one or the girls still. Don’t let Sami win. He looked back lazily to her with a crooked smile.

“You can have it if you like.”

“Oh I’d love to but after a few drinks I change…I get kind of crazy with shots” She winked.

“Then by all means...” He picked up the shot glass and lifted it up slightly to her. He raised his eyebrows in mock challenge to her which only made her smile larger. She surprised him by straddling his legs and then slowly lowering herself to sit on him, facing him. He saw Sami, out of the corner of his eyes, turn his head towards them which only increased his confidence. He brought the shot glass to her lips and she opened them as she leaned her head backwards. The drink slowly moved past her lips and he brought the empty glass away.

She was giggling as she brought her head back forward and saw Lauri holding the lime wedge that came with the tequila. She closed her eyes as he brought it to her lips and Lauri looked over her shoulder to Sami who was staring at him with an expression that looked like anger. His eyes moved back to her as she took the lime out of his grasp and brought her lips around his fingers. His eyes squinted and he licked his lips which he knew wasn’t for her but merely because he knew Sami was watching him.

Good.

“Mmm, I love tequila,” the girl on top of him said slowly and he turned his full attention back to her. He moved his hands behind her, resting them on her exposed lower back as she started going into the typical monologue about how she never comes to clubs and whatever bullshit these women thought he’d believe. He rested his chin on her shoulder and almost laughed seeing the discomfort in Sami’s face as he stared intently at him. Lauri moved the hair from the girl’s neck and brought his lips down to her skin with his eyes still staring right into Sami’s. His lips were working slowly down to the curve of her neck before Sami stood up and walked quickly to them. Lauri closed his eyes and pulled back from the girl slowly when Sami cleared his throat.

“You need to take me home,” Sami said, crossing his arms and looked down on the two. Lauri looked at him curiously as the woman on top of him moved down to kiss Lauri’s neck. He smiled when Sami rolled his eyes. “I’m not feeling well; you drove one of the cars. Take me home Korp.” His voice was coming out forced as if each word was its own sentence and Lauri chuckled slightly. The girl looked up pleased as if she was the cause of his pleasure and Sami looked at her with anger.

“I can do you both if you want,” she said coyly as she looked from Lauri to Sami, looking for any reaction. Korp was disappointed when Sami held out his hand for her. He didn’t want her with them, fuck he just wanted Sami. She took Sami’s hand eagerly as if she had won something and he helped her off of Lauri. She moved to bring her arms around Sami’s neck but he shook his head, moving her to the side, out of the way.

“Let’s go Korp.” By the way Sami was looking at him he wasn’t going to argue, and fuck, he didn’t want to. He followed Sami out of the club without even looking back.

Sami didn’t even know why he wanted Lauri. He was quiet, he was serious, he didn’t go out with any of them to clubs, he could get too overly focused on the game, he was everything Sami tried not to be. But god he wanted him so bad. He could probably name fifty other reasons why Lauri was just all wrong but the feeling between his legs was telling him he wanted him as soon as possible.

At first going out with the guys to clubs was to blow off some steam but lately it had been because he knew Lauri would say no. He couldn’t go to bed with Lauri across the nightstand from him without getting hard. He blamed it on just being roommates, no matter how little sense that made, but nothing made sense anymore thanks to Lauri. Sami never felt this way for anyone before, man or woman, but he could never bring himself to ask for another roommate to make the nights seem easier, less hard. He wanted Lauri.

The car was dead silent as Korp drove through Scottsdale and Sami looked out the window, hoping that they’d get there fast. Sami didn’t think Lauri even know where he lived so he was slightly curious where they were going but it didn’t matter, it wasn’t where they were going, it was when the hell they were going to get there.

“Lauri?” Sami asked only to be replied with a humming noise from Lauri as he turned the car. “How much longer?”

“Five minutes.”

He worried only slightly at the shortness in Lauri’s voice but when Sami looked down to see a bulge in Lauri’s pants too he smiled. It was good knowing the man beside him was thinking the same thing.

Sami looked down to Lauri’s hand resting on the stick shift and he licked his lips. He almost laughed when Lauri jumped slightly when he took Korp’s wrist.  Lauri looked at his passenger curiously when he lifted his arm up.

“Just wanted you to know what you do to me,” he said quietly, bringing Lauri’s hand to the bulge in his own pants. The car swerved slightly and he enjoyed hearing the curse from Korp’s lips as he steadied the vehicle and probably himself. At first his hand just cupped his bulge where he had put it but Lauri started moving his hand up and down after a few seconds. Sami leaned back enjoying the feeling but wanted more and he moaned slightly when Lauri put more pressure against him. The car jumped back slightly before the sound of the car accelerating took over.

“One minute then we’ll get to my place.”

Sami looked at Lauri’s face as he was driving. His jaw was clenched tightly but Lauri kept licking his lips every few seconds. Lauri continued moving his hand up and down though and Sami moaned slightly with part pleasure and a constant state of it not being enough.

“We’re going to my place,” Korp repeated as he turned into his community. He clicked the gate clicker and stopped the car, waiting for it open. He looked down at his hand, rubbing over Sami, before slowly moving his stare up to Sami’s eyes. “You got two choices as I see it. When I park the car you can go to Keith’s house and get in your car and go home.”

“Hmm… And my second option?”

“You’re going to come into my house, I’m going to close the door behind us and then you’re going to let me do whatever I want to with you.”

He watched Sami swallow and he looked away, driving through the opened gate. He moved his hand away from Sami as he moved towards his condo. He put the car in park when they had pulled into the garage, and Lauri looked down at his own lap for a second, and then brought his hand up to the garage door opener on his car visor. He turned his head to Sami’s, waiting for his decision.

“Close the garage door Lauri,” Sami instructed beside him. He clicked the button; put the car in park before looking back at Sami who would not let him look anywhere but right in his eyes. He didn’t smile, only looked at him with such seriousness. “Now we need to go inside so you can close that damn door behind me so you can fuck me.”

Lauri’s lips flickered in a smile before he looked down, unbuckling his seat belt. It was almost a race as to who could take them off faster and then who could get out of the car. The door to the house was on Sami’s side of the garage and he was leaning against it as Lauri rounded the car. Lauri paused for a moment, watching Sami before he took a few steps slowly. He stood in front of Sami before bringing his hands up on each side of Sami’s head, against the house door, enclosing him in.

“I’ve wanted you for so long,” he said softly. Sami licked his lips and he moaned softly in anticipation. He leaned forward, his lips barely over Sami’s. “I’m going to kiss you.”

“Don’t just stop there,” Sami replied quickly before leaning forward himself and pressing his lips against Korp’s. The desire in them wanted so much more, faster, but they both allowed themselves to go slow only just letting them enjoy what was there. Lauri could feel his hardness press harder against his pants with the sweetness from the kiss. Sami’s hands moved up Lauri’s back up to the back of his head and his fingers ran through Lauri’s hair before pulling him closer. He teased Lauri’s lips with his tongue and when Lauri opened his lips he practically moaned himself.

Lauri’s hand slid down the door and he pulled away from the kiss when he twisted the door handle. Sami laughed as they practically tripped into the dark hallway.

“Did you want the-.” Lauri was going to finish the invitation to the tour of his house before Sami pushed him against the wall. Lauri smiled, almost lazily, as his arms were guided above his head. Sami was inches from his face, staring at him like he only wished Sami would all the time. He resigned himself to the fact months ago that this would never be a possibility, not with Sami, not with anyone. He of course had been with women before but never had that moment of such passion. The way Sami was looking at him with so much want, so much fire behind those eyes, it scared him almost as much as it turned him on.

The feel of Sami’s lips against his neck made him moan softly. Sami brought his hands up Lauri’s who still had them against the wall and he linked his fingers with Lauri’s as he pushed his body against him as well.

“You feel how hard you make me?” Sami asked against Lauri’s skin where he had just been teasing him with his tongue. “You make me this way every night.” He bit softly against Lauri’s neck before placing kisses over his Adam’s apple.

“Sami,” Korp said softly as he felt Sami kiss his chin. He blinked a few times before looking right at Sami. He opened his mouth to say something but he closed it a second later. Sami wrinkled his forehead in confusion as Lauri did it again. He got scared slightly and he looked down at their hands together still before moving slowly back up to Lauri who was still showing signs of confusion.

“Korpie?”

“Have you ever done anything like this before?”

Oh, so that was it.

“Yeah,” Sami replied back slowly. “A few times with this guy I knew back in Finland. But nothing like this.”

“Like what?”

“Like…” Sami looked away. The debate was being argued in his head, to show all his cards or not, but when he looked at Lauri who looked like every emotion related to fear was running over his face, all he wanted to do was make him comfortable like all those nights Lauri had helped him. “I’ve never cared all those times before, with other people, not like how I care right now with you.”

Lauri blinked a few times before Sami could see a flush starting to appear on both of his cheeks. Sami started laughing lightly before Korp brought his hand up and hit Sami’s shoulder.

“Hey!”

Lauri pushed Sami back to the other wall and he saw that the pink on Lauri’s cheeks were still there, but the desire had taken its place back in his eyes. He went to move his hands around Lauri’s back but Lauri had quickly moved down to his knees.

“What…?”

Lauri unbuckled Sami’s belt quickly, barely popping the top button before giving it a quick tug. He brought his fingers around Sami’s boxers and when he tugged again all of Sami was in front of him. He looked up to Sami looking down with a slight smirk on his face.

“You know, when I say nice things I don’t expect this.”

“Are you going to let me do this or not?”

Sami only laughed lightly before shaking his head. “I suppose.”

“You suppose?”

“My dick is hard, right in front of your face, and you want to kneel there, on your knees of all things, and ask me if I’ll let you do this?” He paused. “Fuck Lauri, if you wanted me to dress up as Minnie Mouse in order to be with you I’d fucking do it.”

Lauri looked away for a moment, momentarily scaring Sami that maybe that wasn’t the best way to answer that. Lauri turned his head forward again though and licked his lips before bringing him into his mouth. Sami cursed loudly, leaning his head back against the wall as his hips moved forward instinctually. He brought his hands through Lauri’s hair, feeling him move his head forward and back, and he cursed again with the sensation of it all. He felt Lauri laugh around him with each of his curses, only heightening the pleasure of it all. Sami looked down, watching the motions of Lauri’s head as they matched what he felt. He almost laughed with the sheer pleasure and amazement with his desire for so long coming to life. Lauri looked up at him, his lips curling up slightly before taking him in completely again. Oh yeah, Sami thought, he was the luckiest man alive.

Lauri fell forward onto the bed beside Sami and practically gasped for air. His arm lay over Sami’s chest, and he could feel his deep breathing matching the man’s beside him. His head faced towards the windows of his bedroom, the lights of the skyline below becoming something he was trying to focus on, but it was hard to focus on anything besides catching his breath. The ceiling fan above added coolness to his skin that felt like it was on fire, his whole body was feeling so sensitive.

Sami made a kind of moan that almost sounded like he was singing and Lauri’s lips curved up again with his lazy smile. He felt the bed shift under Sami’s weight and he started to lift his head before he felt Sami climb on top of the back of his legs.

“Another round?” Korp asked, laughing hoarsely. He turned his head to look over his shoulder. They locked eyes.

“Hi there,” Sami said softly and Lauri licked his lips. Sami looked down, scanning Lauri’s body under him and he turned his head, noticing a scar almost halfway down his back about a few inches long. His fingers traced the slightly raised skin with his finger and he almost laughed when Korp flinched slightly.

“Cold fingers.”

“Where’d you get this one?” He traced over it again with his fingers before bringing his other hand up to Lauri’s back. He started to massage his back with the heels of his hands and felt satisfaction when Lauri let out a long moan of pleasure. “The scar?”

“You don’t want to know…”

“Now I definitely do.” Lauri moaned when Sami’s fingers started pressing in his shoulders, massaging him. “You can either tell me now or I will threaten to stop.”

Lauri’s shoulder moved up and down with his laugh. “I got in a fight, if you want to call it that, with this kid in my school when I was ten or something.” He paused to let out another moan of pleasure when Sami’s hands moved to his lower back, kneading away. “The stupid kid pushed me into one of those metal lockers but it was open and my back got the corner.”

Sami continued the trek over Lauri’s body with his hands and he smirked slightly bringing his hands to Lauri’s ass. “What was the fight about?”

“He, uh, was mad.” Lauri let out a low moan of pleasure again from Sami’s hands. He let himself relax before Sami asked why he was mad. “I beat him in some sport I don’t even remember. Just one of those types…”

With Sami questioning him further Lauri quickly turned his body, flipping Sami over, onto the bed. He positioned himself over Sami and smiled triumphantly then lowered his mouth to Sami’s and kissed him. His lips pulled back but Sami brought his head up following him and Lauri moved his hand up, pushing back the hair on Sami’s forehead. They pulled apart and Sami smiled softly to him as Lauri’s thumb continued stroking his forehead.

“Promise me something Korpie.”

“What’s that?”

“Promise me when we wake up, whenever we end up falling asleep, that you won’t regret this. I don’t want to wake up and it be weird between us.”

Lauri leaned down and gave Sami a quick kiss. “I’ve wanted you way too long for that to happen. Way too fucking long.” Sami still stared up at him and he took a deep breath. “I promise that it won’t happen. I’m not done with you yet.”

He kissed Sami again before pushing himself up and stepping off the bed. “Now, you going to hit the showers with me or not?” He smiled over his shoulder as he walked to his bathroom, enjoying the sight of Sami scurrying off the bed.
