The Plane and Candy

Day one turned into day two.

After we boared our flight out of Toronto it was delayed... and delayed... and delayed... and we were deplaned... and we waited...
Many irate people.  We decided to make the best of it.  Duty free window shopping!  KinderEggs!  Large sculpture!!

Thankfully, we didn't have much planned the next day in London, we didn't have any more connecting flights, we didn't have to work the next day... we were on vacation!

Unfortunately, that vacation started in the Toronto airport.
We sat on the floor and invented a version of Gin Rummy (put down when you get sets/runs, and you can pick up as deep into the discard pile as you like, you just have to take everything from that point up) and were joined by a friendly middle Eastern man who didn't seem to understand the rules of our game.

We waited... and then the flight was canceled.  At 3 in the morning.

The irate people got more irate.
We got more tired and 'ah, well'-y.

They sent us to hotels (remember, it's 3 in the morning, and we have to be back at 7:00 for our new flight).
The cabbie dropped us off at the wrong hotel, along with 30 or so other people.  The hotel didn't know we were coming, and didn't have any arrangement with Air Canada for us.  We could go back to the airport (which was closed) or sit in the lobby, or pay for a room.

This was about the time that I hit the wall.  Luckily, Natalie managed to keep it together and make decisions for us, while I sat and stared at the luggage.

After about 1/2 an hour the very nice concierge got the dozen or so of us who elected to stay (the chairs were more comfortable than the curb outside the airport) did get in touch with Air Canada, and did offer us rooms.

That two hour nap was the best nap ever!!

...

Up at 6:00 to get back to the airport.
Totally zonked, but that's ok.  We're on vacation!!

We mananged to stay up most of the flight (thank god for personal TV screens on the plane).  I watched Twilight, Ben Button, and Bolt, and slept through Quantum of Solace.

After a long journey through customs and on the tube to our hostel, we arrived at about 11:00 Tuesday evening, and immediately crashed.

travel, london, losers
