I wasn't planning on making the fic as epically long as it is, but once I started outlining their time apart, I knew the fic would be a little long. I'm glad that you enjoyed the glimpses of their years apart, and hope it wasn't too depressing. I wanted to illustrate that even though they were still doing what they had to do, working or in school, they still thought about each other sometimes. And they couldn't help coming together again after all those years, b/c... well, I don't want to say fate, but... that's really what they wanted (unbeknownst to even them, I think)
The Q/M dynamic was so difficult to write. They just kept butting heads, like you said, and I couldn't control it. But I do think it comes out of a place of love, and maybe a little insecurity. I think sometimes they were just unsure of their place in each others' hearts... I enjoyed writing the interactions between the three, and I wanted to make it clear that -- as you said -- Q/M weren't just Puck's gf/wives, but each other's.
Even when Rachel is being completely insane on the show (sending Sunshine to a crack house?!), I just LOVE her voice and I tried to replicate that here. She's such an interesting character; I always felt I was going a bit over the top, but I tried to keep that "over the top-ness" in line with how over the top Rachel herself tends to be. So I'm glad you thought it worked.
Santana is so great to use in the most random places...she's hilarious. I'm glad you liked the baby shower clean up scene; I could absolutely see the glee kids doing something like, and just wanted to show more ensemble interaction.
Thank you for your reading, and your lengthy review! Please reread as you wish! I still find random stuff in my own work that makes me smile.
