Meeting the In-Laws to be!

Jan 21, 2002 16:21

Sochra, (the rat!) did not come home for Christmas so S and I went over to visit her and the 'dearly beloved' for a few days. They took a few days off, collected us at Bristol and left us back there.

We did a few touristy things, saw the wedding venue, and met the soon-to-be-in-laws. I don't know about them but we were scared out of our wits at this meeting! After all we have never done this before.

Turned out very well, a very pleasant pub lunch.

Odd feel to Oxfordshire though, seems to be cliche English countryside. Half-timbered houses, sturdy (that is fat!)yeomen sipping their pints of cider, commuter trains of stockbrokers heading to London, silver Volvo station wagons driven by silver-haired ladies. I kept expecting to turn a corner and see the vicar of Dibley coming the other way!

The wedding venue is very nice, a 17th century wooden barn and yard. We should be able to have some fun there.
