Huge Week for Cargill

Jun 15, 2007 04:53

This week was a milestone. Truly one for the books. Here's a Recap.

1) Started off the week with a special premeire of ratatouille with Patton Oswalt and Janeane Garofolo. Patton recognized me right off hand and met me with a "Hey! massawyrm! Dude, so glad you could make it!" Nothing makes you feel better than having someone you admire, but have only met a few times greet you by name. Then I got to meet, sit next to at a screening and totally geek out over Janeane. At one point I look to the left and it's my wife Jess. I look to the right and it's Janeane. I swear, I had a dream about that once. It ended with towels. Oh, yeah. Ratatouille was the tits. Amazing film. My review posts next week. Fucking embargoes.

2) 2 years ago this past monday I quit DR. Pepper and subsequently lost 50lbs. 7 Months ago this past monday I quit smoking and haven't cheated once.5 months ago this week I began working out almost every day - lifting weights, and basically working on my upper body. I now have pecs in the place of man boobs, and I have the makings of a six pack where a Keg used to be. That's the next phase. get ripped (but not disgustingly so.)

3) 5 Pieces for Film.com, 5 reviews for AICN (with 4 more in the pipe) and 9-10 mini pieces for Spill.

4) My buddy Korey came through for me in a big way. Due to a number of lifestyle issues, I've been having trouble writing, especially my work stuff - despite falling into full on script writing mode. Korey heard of my woes and mentioned he had a spare laptop I could just take and refurbish. By no means is this thing a beast, but once I get a few items this morning, it will be a lean, mean, writing machine capable of allowing me to write and surf ANYWHERE. On the couch, in bed, at any of the coffeeshops up the road. I'm installing final Draft first thing in the morning. Which leads to...

5) I figured out the title and theme to my super low budget John Carpenter-esque horror/action film that I'm gonna pitch to Kevin shortly. I figured out the ending to my romantic comedy. And I'm finally ready to sit down and write my horror script Super 8. My plan is to write three CRASH AND BURN scripts. Just plow through each script in 3-7 days, set them aside while I write another, and come back a few weeks later to fix the crappiness in rewrites. I know everything I'm doing with these, but I always get hung up on stupid shit. This time I'm trying the Mel Gibson approach - just slam it out then fix it. Fixing is SOOOOO much easier than the first draft. So that's my creative summer plans.

6) Our preproduction artist has vanished. He doesn't answer his cell phone, his e-mail addy;s are dead and he doesn't work at his job anymore. He's just gone. And we didn't have scans of most of his awesome work. CRAP. And we find this out as we have a buddy of mine wanting to do fundraising. Time to rethink the plan.

7) Ratatouille, Foot Fist way, Mighty Heart, Fantastic Four, La Vie En Rose, Crazy Love, Paprika - and I want to take Jess to Hostel 2 before it leaves and we're seeing Evan Almighty.

8) Wrote up the wonderful 50's era zombie comedy Fido. In the film, the little boy has a set of curtains that are very 1950's kids room - except they have soldiers...fighting zombies. They're awesome. I wrote about how I wanted them. So the director e-mailed me to thank me for the great write up and helping support the film. Then offered to mail me the curtains, of which there is only one set. Fuck. Yeah. There will be photos.

9) Shit. Not quite this week. I was busy as fuck. maybe next week, DB. next week.

That about covers the highlights.
