So, we did the server move on Saturday. And since we still had a few loose ends to tidy up, I worked a few hours from home on Sunday. Then we came in to work early on Monday, and got most of the fires put out by noon. It all went about how I expected, if not a little bit smoother. The biggest problem we had on Saturday -- other than simply running out of time -- was the nameserver taking a dump. Luckily, that was running FreeBSD, which meant we could simply relocate the hard drive in another machine, and everything was back up and running.
At around 1:00 this afternoon, a slight wrinkle developed. Some might notice, I worked Mon-Fri of last week, then on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. The astute reader will note that adds up to 8 consecutive days on which I clocked hours. As it turns out, anything past 6 consecutive days automatically becomes doubletime. Obviously the payroll and HR folks were unhappy about this. So they sent me home at 2, and asked me not to come in tomorrow. (That may sound worse than it actually is; I didn't get the feeling that they were trying to punish me, they were simply trying to avoid any more doubletime hours.)
This week is going to end up with a very weird time card. On top of the strange weekend work situation, I'm starting school on Tuesday. After all is said and done, I will be putting 8 hours on Saturday, 2 hours (at double rate) on Sunday, 6 hours (again at double rate) on Monday, 4 hours on Wednesday, and 8 hours on Thursday. It's going to actually end up at slightly less than I'd make on a normal 40 hour work week, but with a much more interesting schedule.
