Yeah, so... 2 years later...
Eli and I just celebrated our 2 year anniversary on Monday, and on a whim I went to livejournal and read through my posts. It is kind of interesting to see my life 3 years ago. That's the attraction to livejournal. It's a diary I can't lose.
Right now I'm working at The Manor as a reading teacher. Eli's mom worked here for about 4 years before she moved on to a job in a public school, so she had some connections. The students here are all behaviorally and some are cognitively impaired. It's a stressful job, but I feel accomplished quite often. I am hoping to get out soon, though.
Eli just graduated with his MA in Psychology and is working as a psychometric technician at U of M. He basically gives evaluations to people who schedule them in advance for things like dementia and ADHD or goes to the hospital and does impatient exams mostly for severe depression. It is an interesting job and so far he loves it.
It was weird reading through how often I was sick in those posts. Funny enough, it all surrounded my gall bladder. I had it removed in April after being jaundiced because a stone was stuck in my system. The doctor couldn't get it out the regular way, which has a short recovery time, because it was so diseased. So, I have a 10" incision on my stomach, but I haven't been this healthy in years. He said this is something that has probably bothered me for the past decade. Amazing that I thought it was the flu the whole time.
Eli and I bought a house in November at an auction. We love it. It's spacious and gorgeous and we're just starting to do some decorating. My sister got married in June and it was a beautiful ceremony. I am really happy for her.
Life has been good so far with a few bumps in the road, but I am excited about the next few months. I'll write more later!
