It has been a century and a half since I updated, but I am subbing right now and the kids are at lunch, so I thought it would be a good time!
It is so funny where I have been subbing lately. I subbed a lot at Lincoln, then got really sick with that gross flu that was going around. Of course the teacher I was subbing for was out sick with the same thing. I subbed at the high school for senior government. The teacher was actually my senior year government teacher. I was in his class his first year out of college, so it was fun to sub there. I knew half the kids since JT is a senior, so that was strange. His friend walks in and says, "What the hell?" when he sees me and wouldn't stop saying "MISS McAdam," which was strange for an 18 year old to call me. Right now I'm subbing 5th grade, and this is by far the toughest. There are several kids in the class that I am just amazed at. It seems like the teachers here do the best they can do just to keep these kids from hurting other people. I am learning what it means to choose your battles! I am learning so much about teaching from subbing. It's actually quite enjoyable. I work all day, but don't take work home at night. I get to meet a ton of interesting kids. The only thing that sucks are the 5 am wakeup calls. But, that's getting better too.
The wedding plans are moving right along. We have made a jr. bridesmaid's dress, flower girl dress, started Jamie's bridesmaids' dress, and began cutting out Amanda's. Eli asked Jake to be a groomsman. The kid basically lives at our house, and is probably going to move in with my family after the wedding. I feel like he's my other little brother! I just thought about it, but today marks exactly 5 months to my wedding! Kinda scary!
My mom had a falling out with my aunt, and if you ask me, it's about time. My aunt subs for my mom at work once in awhile, and when my mom took Jamie to her doctor's appointment, she subbed and began talking trash about my mom to MY MOM's co-worker. So, of course, my mom found out. But, she also found out about this the day after Jackie went off on my mom because my mom got an email from Jackie's school that Jackie was coming late to class, not doing homework, and being disruptive. Why didn't they contact my aunt? Oh, I' m sure they did. But, that's another story. So, basically my mom realized that there is nothing she can do to save Jackie and Jody, so she needs to back off. Thank god. It was getting to the point of unbearable with their behaviors. My mom and aunt are supposed to talk this week, but my mom is staying firm with her decisions about staying away from the two of them unless things start to change. My mom was only the babysitter after all.
Other than that, my life is pretty uneventful. Eli got his rejection letters from MSU and Syracuse. But, he also got invited for interviews at EMU and CMU. It'll be nice to know where we're living next year!
