Celebrity Derby Photos

May 07, 2007 07:00

In a way, it really hasn't sunk in that Street Sense won the Derby. Everyone is still on cloud nine. It is so RARE when plans and events go so perfectly. It's hard to win an ordinary horse race, and even harder to win the greatest horse race in the world. While reality continues to sink in, I thought I'd post some of the celebrity photos I got on Saturday.

I don't normally go after celebrity photos as I don't want to be a paparazzi, but looking back, there were some instances when I wish I would have. I stood next to Elizabeth Taylor back in 1984 during the very first Breeders Cup, which was held at Hollywood Park. She looked great back then and what fun it would have been if I had gotten a photo of "us".

Here's who I saw on Saturday:

Is this Chelsea Clinton? If not, it sure looked like her......

And here is Cybil Sheperd, she was very nice to everyone and posed for a lot of photos....

I was up in the Turf Club visiting with my friend Kathy Bloch, and the guy from Lost walked by. Kathy snagged him for a photo. I don't know the guy but he caused quite a fuss when he was walking around. (Kathy is on the left.)..........

Here is Apolo Ohno and his Dancing With The Stars partner, Julianne. Are they the cutest two people on the planet or what???
Wow.  Too bad she's engaged to someone else! I think her fiancee is the dude below Apolo in the photo.....ick!

Now here's a real opportunistic opportunity...me and my friend Beverly Bates got our photo taken with Larry Birkhead! I gotta say, he was really really nice and spent a few minutes with us until we got the photos we wanted....

Here's the biggest celeb of all....Carl Nafzger! I took this photo well before the Derby ran, and it was nice to see Carl happy and relaxed. He told Clint and I months ago that he was going to enjoy Street Sense (as opposed to being a nervous wreck!) and sure enough here he is having a good time before the Derby.....

more Derby postings later...
