I went to the Stadium Of Fire show in Provo, Utah, this past weekend to see Taylor Hicks perform in his first big gig since winning American Idol. Stadium Of Fire is the biggest annual event of the year in Provo, it is held outdoors at the BYU football stadium. My husband and I live in Montana, and we were already planning a June road trip to Utah ( Read more... )

I was there also. I love your picture of all the flags in the stadium and the one of the front of the stadium. I laughed at your comments about all the stupid acts and announcements. I agree. The highlight of the evening was Taylor popping out of no where playing his harmonica. He was just to the right of us as we were on the East side bleachers near the stage. We saw him practicing with the harmonica, but then he disappeared. I thought he was a bit rushed with the three songs and I too didn't think the original was as good as the others on stage, but it was nice to hear something different for a change. My husband and I flew up to Salt Lake City and drove a rented car down to Provo. We are from the San Francisco Bay area. Loved your other pictures as well of the airial views, horses, etc. We went to Sundance and took a chairlife ride to the mountain top and visited Snowbird and the sights around Salt Lake. Went out to Utah Univ. and saw the Olympic Stadium where they had the opening and closing ceremonies. Looking forward to the AI Tour. Will see it in San Jose, CA-just down the road from where I live. Thanks again for all of your pictures. Brings back the memory of our trip.Weren't those fireworks magnificent???? We had fallout all over our clothes and in our hair. Could really feel the heat from those flames shooting up behind the stage. Cece

Cece, I didn't want to be too critical of the show in my commentary, but the whole thing did indeed have a cornball element to it. When they said the prayer, my husband said, "This wouldn't happen in San Francisco!"

I agree the highlight was Taylor popping out of no where. I'm glad you let me know that you saw him down there beforehand, I was wondering about that as I couldn't see from where I was.

The three songs did seem a bit rushed, but maybe the Stadium Of Fire planners didn't know what a good thing they had in Taylor. I sure wished he could have sung a couple more songs. Imagine how much better the show would have been if they had axed some of the silly stuff in favor of more Taylor time!

I want to see the Idol tour, too, but I'm not sure what city yet. I may be on my way to San Jose!
