I entered some of my beadwork in our county fair, which is this
weekend. I've never entered anything in a fair before, though I've
always wanted to. I did this beadwork earlier this year as a
tribute/portrait of my pet angora rabbit who died in January. My
beadwork is personal, I don't sell it, it's just something I enjoy
doing.
My husband was fearful of me putting this into the fair, as he was
afraid some kids would get their grubby hands on it. He needn't
worry--my beadwork ended up in a glass case, because I won first place
in my bead category and then my piece went on to win GRAND
CHAMPION in the whole 3D Arts & Crafts Department! I beat out
all the entries in the categories of jewelry, leathercraft,
woodworking, handmade dolls, stained glass and other glasswork, paper
crafts, basket weaving, etc. etc.
I knew the beadwork was pretty good but I was surprised to be named Grand Champion! It's a great honor.
Here is what it looks like on display at the fair--

Here's the real bunny--
Shouldn't I be wearing a special crown while I walk around the fair? Or at least get in free?
