It has recently dawned on me that some day I will need to actually have a life. You know go to work and stuff. I have been evaluating myself and thus far the only viable career options are something related to historical preservation/public memory/museum type things or non-profit/advocacy type things probably for literacy and education programs. I am torn as to whether I should apply to be a Baker Scholar or not. Basically its for people studying liberal arts interested in pursuing careers in business that are focused on the community and will pretty much give you great job oppurtunities when you graduate because of the activities and alumni and whatnot. Do I apply and forget the history stuff? What if I don't get in? Should I even be making these decisions now? I feel like everyone else already has a life plan and I am woefully behind. I need someone knowledeable about this type of stuff to talk to but I hate asking for help.
JK Rowling has permanently entrenched herself in my mind. In a book about the Trail of Tears. The term half-breed was used to refer to and Cherokee Indian chief who had a white father I think. My professor said half-breed in class and I immediatly thought of Hermione Granger and the painting of Sirius Black's mother yelling. I need her to finish writing the seventh book so I can stop being so involved in the characters' lives.
