Offered: Complete set of Lost Kingdom Yowies (Series A)

Oct 02, 2009 22:01

This auction is for a complete set of Yowies, Lost Kingdom Series A.

Yowies are small toys that were packaged inside chocolate eggs, and sold by Cadbury in Australia and New Zealand (something like Kindereggs, for those who have had them). They are little animal figures, ranging in size from about 1.5-3", assembled from snap-together parts.

The Lost Kingdom series figures are of extinct animals (mostly). Series A consists of 50 animals, starting with the giant disc-jelly (Precambrian) and ending with the modern koala and platypus (the only extant animals in the set). It includes a trilobite, a sea scorpion, various reptiles, fish, mammals, etc. You can see pictures of all the figures here (the colors of the actual figures do not match the pictures in all cases).

In addition to the 50 figures, the set includes 6 skulls of extinct animals, which were special "limited edition" (it says here) items which were harder to find.

The lot contains all 50 figures and all 6 skulls. With the exceptions noted, everything is complete and in excellent condition. Said exceptions:
  1. Figure 5 (the trilobite) is missing one of the interior pieces. If the other interior piece is ignored, the remaining three pieces fit together well enough and look pretty good.
  2. Figure 19 (an allosaurid) has a long tail, the end piece of which does not stay on well. It is currently loose, and one of the pegs that holds it on is broken. However, it could certainly be glued on (I can glue it myself if the winner prefers, but I'm not great at that sort of thing).
  3. Each figure and skull comes with a small strip of paper which gives some facts about the associated animal and shows how to assemble the item. These have a lot of creases and curls from being folded inside little plastic cylinders. In addition, figure 33 (a ridge-headed mekosuchine) is missing its paper.
  4. As noted, the figures came in little plastic cylinders (mostly). I have about 25 of them. I can include them if the winner likes, but they're not likely to be of much use (they have little holes in each end for some reason). Also they tend to have bits of ancient chocolate stuck to them. I would be happy to recycle them here.
