Slight question

Sep 08, 2009 21:15

Is it just me, or was it unbearably cold today? The weather forecast said it should be seasonally warm, but I didn't feel any of it.
I'm sitting here wearing my thickest sweater with a scalding hot cup of chamomile, and I just can't seem to stop shivering.

And yes, the thermostat is dialled up, but it's not like that ever worked in the first

Dude. Don't tell me YOU'RE getting sick, too! D:

But, yeah, I think it's been kind of cold lately. All of this nightly rain we've been having is messing with the chill factor and all that. NOT A METEOROLOGIST! JUST A CARDIOLOGIST! Almost!

I think I've just caught a slight chill, that's all. It'll clear up once I get some rest, perhaps.

Hah! Don't talk to me about rain and cold. I've fared far worse.

Right now, headcolds FTW. Compared to this other crap going around...

I'm sure you have. XD I'm more used to heat.

If I had any sense of foresight, I would've gotten some chicken stock while I was out at the shops yesterday. I don't know quite what makes it work, but homemade chicken and rice soup always does the trick.
I don't know if there even would be a folk remedy for whatever that is.

I can put up with just about anything, unless it gets to the extremes like it does during summers over here. Today is just very, very, very cold for early September.

Not even the medical community quite knows what's so magical about chicken. XD My grandmother used to make Gumbo every time any of her grandbabies ended up ill.

I think rest and relaxation is what they're trying out now.

Cold is okay. I don't like heat though. XD

"Gumbo"? What in blazes is that?
But yes, I ran home this morning and nicked the ingredients from the pantry. Once it's finished cooking, I think a long rest is in high order. I've been very close to nodding off in every class today.

It's like a stew/soup us country fucks like to eat. It has chicken and sausage and celery and all sorts of delicious stuff in it and you serve it on top of steamed rice and OH MY GOD it is DELICIOUS! I swear, the only thing that could make Larxene sexier is if she knew how to make it. ;D

Your classes are still in session? Must not have that many people out, then. Mine were bone dry, so the professor just told us to go home. XD

That actually sounds somewhat appetizing. I'm quite surprised.
Then again, I've had and enjoyed mock turtle soup. You don't want to know what's in it.

Only a few still are, but most of the teachers have given up on doing anything actually educational.
Except for Dr. LeBeau. He's ignoring this whole occasion and is giving the seven of us left even more work.

My sister knows how to make it. 8D They both do, but only one of them actually cooks. The other has a nanny. XD

... mock turtle? What the fuck is a mock turtle? Anything like a turtle neck?

Don't you hate guys like that? Most of my classes are online at the moment, which is both good and bad. Good, because I don't have to leave the house. Bad, because I'm NOT leaving the house and thus we're all driving each other in-fucking-sane.

How could one go without cooking, and have someone else do it for you? That's just not right!

Ah...yes. Yes. It's like a turtle, but not. At the same time.

The wondrous event that is cabin fever. I don't actually know a cure for it that doesn't involve going outside. Just read for a while in a room far away from anyone else, if you can. That always worked for me.

Well, how can you go with cooking and eating it yourself? I never understood THAT bit until I was cooking for my squadron on duty. Having someone else cook and bring it to the family was totally normal for me growing up.

... so what is it? TORTOISE?! 8D

I've already read everything in my study. And mostly everything in Hunter's book shelf. Not touching Madam's books. XD

I find that very odd. Once I was old enough, I helped in the kitchen wherever I could, and once I hit teenage years, I was cooking dinner two nights a week. That's just how things are for us Wilkinsons.

No, and you're not getting closer. You don't want to know what it is, if you don't mind me saying.

Well, I suppose that blows my suggestion out the water. You could always take up knitting, I suppose, if you have the supplies.

You probably didn't grow up with parents both rich enough to hire half the town's population for just over minimum wage, though, right? :P

But I do want to know! I don't like turtle anyway. Too... too chewy.

Actually, my nieces left their crocheting materials here in my office last time they were over to play. XD They were making a shawl for their favorite aunt and a blanket for their new cousins. X3

OH DUDE I could totally look up foot and back massage techniques. :D

Correct. We would've been the hired help, had we grown up in the same town. But we always had a roof over our heads, clothes on our backs, and food in our bellies, thus, I believe we're well off.

Traditionally, it's made with calf's head. I've had both that and one made with veal, but I must say I preferred the former.

I used to crochet when I was younger. I've since forgotten how, but it passed the time when it was too cold and/or damp to go outside.

That may actually prove to be more lucrative. Do both, if you have the time.
