Aeris and I went to the doctor this week to have her general check-up, as well as an ultrasound, and we are both very proud to announce the following

Congratulations, old boy! I can already tell you and the Mrs are delighted. We can feel your glee from here!
And no, we haven't actually brought up with your parents about the twins yet. I haven't talked to them in a while, to be honest, since I thought they'd be upset with me for denying their request to formally adopt me. I still don't think any of you understand my reasoning really, do you?
Thank you, Balthier! We're both quite happy, and would be no matter what the baby's gender, but I'm still quite tickled that I get to have both a daughter and a son.
You haven't? I thought not, they seemed a bit down when I asked if you had told them anything, and they said no. They're not upset, I don't think, and they're never upset enough to not want your company. A little saddened, perhaps, but you'll always be their son, even if it's not on paper. As for your reasoning, we are all a little upset, but it's quite all right. You're your own man, and you are free to do what you want.
Tickled pink? Ahah, I'm still rather amused by that phrase...
I see you still don't understand... Need I explain it again? I can't let your family adopt me because I care about you. I am a criminal. A wanted man. I would rather not have any of you tangled in my business and if those that hunt me found a familial connection to you, they will find you and they will torture you to get to me. I do it not out of malice, but to protect you from my past. Besides, if old Cidolfus Bunansa gets tied back to me, as my father, how I will howl when they throw lit explosives through his expensive windows...!
Well, tickled pink, yes, but it's still quite wonderful to have yet another child, and this little fellow was quite unexpected. I had another sterility test, and I received the same results as before, but that's clearly not the case, to both the doctors' and my bewilderment.
No, you don't need to. You're still their son, and you're still my brother, even if the records don't show it. If something happens like what went on when I was shot, well, we'll bear it. I still don't think it's quite right that you'd seek for your father to be killed, as he is your father, but...that's just how I was raised, I suppose.
I could suggest other ways, but I don't want a newspaper over my head, thank you. I don't need to add to the headache I've had for the past 2 days...
I'd rather you not have to endure that sort of thing. Besides, we don't need paper to know we're family, right? I'll be over with the family for the Sunday meal, alright? If you had ever had the, ah, exquisite pleasure of getting to know my father, you'd understand... The man is off his head. Maybe one day we will reconcile, but since he tried to have me hung, need I remind you, that won't be soon.
[Private] What do you mean, other ways? Other ways that we could have conceived this little fellow? In vitro wouldn't have worked. Surely you're not suggesting that the baby is not mine? [/Private]
True, we'd all rather not, but sometimes things do happen that put one of us in hospital for a while. I'll tell them to pull up a few extra chairs for you and yours, and set out some extra plates. I did see him, yes, but we never got to exchange formal introductions, given the circumstances. And if I can remember correctly--thanks to you and your delightful gift of a severe concussion--he wanted to separate your head from your neck.
