Tomorrow Celes goes off to school for the first time since she's entered our care. It's going to be different not having her around so much during the day--although she tended to not stick around during the day this summer, but still. She's all packed and ready, with all of her new supplies and a few new outfits for her. Thankfully, she takes after

Go on, I just dare you to contradict me. I have plenty of "I told you so"s stocked up for when Celes starts moving into her moody teenage years...~
I think the only issue with a pink car is that once they're bought, you're very much with them for life, because they are very hard to sell due to the colour and I think that adds to the depreciation... My suggestion would be a Volkswagen Beetle. One of the new generation ones, as they seem to have more safety features than the older ones. The Beetle comes in a wide array of colours and they can be customised, plus they're rather popular among the young set here. And the line has been discontinued, so selling one on might not be so difficult as you'll be trying to sell a car that is no longer made. That can have a positive effect on the resell price.
... Hm, I think you can tell I've been reading car magazines lately...

Oh? I believe she'll be all right, but I have heard of adopted children lashing out because we're not their "real parents", but...I hope she doesn't do that when she gets older.
One of the problems with the Beetle is that they're two-door. It's very hard to strap little ones in car seats in a two-door, and to get them back out again is a chore as well. I'm considering the Tiguan, as it still seats five and has four doors, and is a tad safer than a Beetle. It comes in this wonderful cherry colour, too, but I think I'll not try to surprise her and let her pick.
From what Ms Fran tells me, you need to be looking at minivan magazines instead. Congratulations, by the way.
