Hey, so I was researching jobs overseas recently in Qatar, where fiance was looking at possibly working for a bit, and I thought I'd pass it along since you had mentioned once or twice about going to teach somewhere else overseas, so it might be something to keep in mind for next year.

As a HS teacher over in Doha, I'd get a regular old salary (38k-50k or so), but I'd get a free house to live in, utilities paid, insurance, free plane rides back once a year, shipping, visas arranged and paid for, and bonuses if I stay on for more than 1 year. 99% of my paycheck would go straight to my pocket, although I would have to save aside money for taxes.

It might be something to look into, if you are still interested in a change.

A coworker of fiance's went over there, and was telling us that anything you didn't want to do, you'd leave in the morning and say "I'd like my car washed, please" and it'd be done and you just pay a small amount to do so. Don't want to grocery shop? Ok! Etc etc. He said also that as a single guy, it was pretty boring there, as he didn't have anyone to do things with, but there were movie theaters and malls and so forth. He also said he had to tell his students 1-there was no bartering for a better grade, and 2-maids and butlers couldn't take notes for them.

The wikipedia article on Doha Qatar has a lot of info on educational programs over there, including a list of all the schools.

Thanks very much.

Right now, I'm planning to stay here through May 2011 to finish paying off my bills, but I will keep this info should I feel like more globe-trotting after Korea.
