Gah! I did not think this post was going to go up by the end of this phase so I didn't get a chance to reread. But I read it over spring break and I guess that wasn't that long ago. Let's see how this goes.
For years I have been hearing about how great Good Omens is an how I have to read it. I'd read several of Neil Gaiman's books and even one or two of the Discworld books even though those really weren't my thing but never got around to Good Omens. But while I traveling on spring break, I brought two books with me, one of them being American Gods which I also had never read. When I finished both my books before my flight home, I decided to stop by a bookstore and pick up Good Omens.
I feel I may have made a mistake reading American Gods and Good Omens back to back. They're such different things but I can't help comparing them and I just preferred American Gods way more. Good Omens is fun and highly entertaining but while reading it I just flew through it and was kind of like "huh, that's it" when I got to the end. Maybe it's because I've never been big on humour that I just wasn't all that into this book. I don't know.
From what I can remember of the book, all my favorite parts seemed to have to do with Crowley's car. The morphing of his cassette tapes. The high-jacking of his sound system. The fact that it was still going on down the street while on fire.
I know there were several other characters and storylines but nothing seems to have stuck with me about any of them.
For me, American Gods is something I'll probably reread down the road because I really want to dig into it instead just kind of passively reading it while traveling.
