I'm watching K-Pax. Kevin Spacey rocks!

I get to relax today and it feels good. I finished my classes for they day, I'm done with work, I don't have any homework due tommarow, and the only things i have to worry about now are finishing my study hall hours (1 left) fencing practice (4-6:30) and working out at the gym. Then an nice long four day weekend.

Blah blah blah. At work I spent 10 minutes trying ti get ine girl, Ingrid, to say handy. I asked her "what are the letters in the word?" she kept leaving one out every time she would try to say it. Then i asked her to write it. She would leave letters out, put them in the wrong order, and use entirely wrong letters. I asked her to pronouce each letter. She did that only o.k., lastly i asked her to put the sounds of the letters together. she couldn't do it. The word was handy, this girl is in the second grade. i asked her if the knew all the sounds of the letters of the alphabet. And she didn't. It was so sad.

It's also kind of frustrating. She has the worst time paying attention and listening to directions. She would do so much better if she could just think the answer through but she is so impatient. I know how that feels but really it's not that she has a learning disability but rather that she doesn't have the right kind of environment for productive learning. At home she has no books. Her parents are uneducated and can only tell her to do her best, they can't help her at all.
