I've seen GoF, but nothing past that. Tbh, I don't really remember the movies that well - I saw each of them when they came out, so it's been a while... I never saw much of a reason to see them again. The only one I've seen more than once is the first. I've been thinking about watching the rest though because I am a little curious about how they've gone about things in the latter movies. Plus, like you said, they do look great - all the gorgeous HP graphics that appear on my dash every day make me even more curious to actually see the movies. (If I do see them, I'll probably mentally separate them from the books because I know I'll be annoyed by some of the changes, and treating the movies and the books like separate branches of the same fandom sort of help.)

:p Yep. Honestly, reading the LotR books was like forcing my way though a set of boring history books. Yes, Tolkien invented a brilliant fantasy landscape with a million amazing details in it - but did he have to write about like that? All of the "historical" details and family trees and anecdotes about elves who are long dead and whatnot just distracted me form the story. So I really prefer the movies. They give us the details and the history without taking too much focus off the actual story.
