- Do you typically enjoy films that are based off of books or do you avoid them?
If I enjoyed a book, chances are, I'll see the movie. If only because I'm curious as to how they handled certain things and it's always cool to see your favorite scenes come to life. Also, it's cool when we're able to see other POVs, if a book is written in first person. For example, Divergent and the Hunger Games. Sometimes they are such a huge disappointment. *cough*Vampire Academy*cough* Which makes me sad because I LOVED those books and would have loved to have seen those storylines on the screen.

My favorite movies that were based off books, regardless to accuracy: The Princess Bride, The Hunger Games, Jurassic Park, Memoirs of a Geisha, Stardust!!!
My favorite TV shows that were based off books. Outlander, Haven, Legend of the Seeker, Blood Ties.

- Would you rather read the book or watch the movie first?Ehhhhh, this is always the thing! If you read the book first, then you're watching the movie going OMG, YOU LEFT THAT OUT. Reading the ( ... )

The best thing about any movie when you've read the book is seeing all the places and things come to life. (Of course, that can also be the worst part if they get it WRONG :p).

I actually enjoyed the Vampire Academy movie (more than I thought I would at any rate). I've never read the books though.

They rushed their way through the VA movie. There were so many cool things that they cut out, like.. the mystery actually went deeper and we learned more of the history, etc. They really had a lot to cram into 1 movie. That series is SO good, even though Rose can really get annoying a lot of the time.

I am SO enjoying Outlander even though, due to ease of filming, they are chaaaaaaanging thiiiiiiiings and UGH. I'll live through it.

I suppose the good thing about not having read the books means I don't know what I'm missing out on. :p

Outlander... I never had the urge to read the books. The time travel aspect sounds cool, but everything I know about these books points to them being all about that guy, and that's just not my kind of story.

The books are written in first person, in the POV of Claire. So, there's a lot about the guy that we don't learn until Claire learns it. It's basically a love story with adventure and the two of them have the shittiest luck EVER. Trouble finds them. I've read through book 3. Taking a break from the long books to read some shorter ones before I start up again. But I'm loving them.

Eh. No, thanks. I don't mind romance if it's a sideplot in whatever book I'm reading, but if romance is the main point and the adventure/crime/fantasy parts are the sideplot, it's definitely not for me.

The adventure is primary, and the romance is what happens between them along the way. But *shrug* to each his own.

It'd be boring anyway if everyone liked the same stuff. :p

I'm scared to start Outlander because I've watched 6 out of the 8 first episodes and I'm worried they'll ruin the books for me

Uhm. Hmmm. Well... even though they are changing things around on the show, due to ease of filming, it is following the book storyline. Obviously, there are things they cut out. I feel like watching the show first won't ruin anything because the book will fill in blanks.

My favorite so far was book 3!

I've never actually seen the Memoirs of a Geisha movie, because I read the book first & hated it, lol.

I loved the book, haha. I also read it first, and the first thing that really struck me was how they changed the first scene to make them being sent away from home to be this horrific traumatic thing, when they went willingly in the book.

I'm curious about what they cut out of Maze Runner because I saw the movie and then decided to just go ahead and read Scorch Trials. And now I've just seen the Scorch Trials trailer and it seems like there's a whole lot added into that one.

i started listing stuff and then realized what I was doing and just googled it, haha. this list is actually pretty awesome.

Things moved a lot more slowly in the book. I mean, obviously, it's a book, not a movie. And even though it only took me a day to read the book, it wasn't crammed into little over an hour.

Wow, that is a comprehensive list. I guess a lot of it is really stuff I picked up on just from reading Scorch Trails.
