Time for a Change.

It's finally summer, which is nice because now I don't need to worry about Mother Nature trying to murder me with her pollen frenzy! The weather outside is getting warmer, which only means that in the next few weeks, Mother Nature will try to murder me once more with the use of Humidity. But for these next few weeks, we have an agreement. I can deal with that.

I like to take a trip down memory lane, as most of you should know. I have a lot of great memories, and I am one of those people who enjoys my memories a lot. I have an awesome life. I've had a few bumps in the road, a few ditches, but nothing I couldn't handle. I have amazing friends. I have an amazing life. Every now and then, I like to take that trip down memory lane back to Arizona. I had such an amazing life there as I have here. Which brings me to what I found in my box of pictures over my lifetime...

(Sorry for the quality of this picture)

That is me in 1999. I was 12 at the time and a scrawny-ass-kid. I see this picture once in a a while and laugh because I forget I was really that tiny. I was a runt, but I was active! Yes, I really was just skin an bones up until I moved to Maine. Nothing wrong with that. I was a very active child way back then, I was running around with my friends in the park, climbing trees, running around the base, I played Soccer, I was really an active child. When I moved to Maine, that activity was scarce. It was a culture shock, but I couldn't be as active as I was. Not saying that this is bad, just a large change in my life.

Now, a small tangent. The last few nights, I have felt pretty sick to my stomach when I went to bed. I have been feeling sluggish, and I am sleeping very late. I started to think about a few years ago when I was trying to diet (and believe me, diet and me don't work). I gave up dieting, because... well... I suck at it. But I did do something I was quite proud of. I gave up Soda. This lasted about a year, and then I gave in to the sweet carbonated goodness that is Coca-Cola. Since then, I haven't really done much. I am healthy, for the most part. Yes, I'm quite overweight, but I'm not bothered by this anymore. In fact, losing weight is not what I am looking to do. Actually, becoming more fit and active is something I am looking to do. I gave it some thought last night, as I was trying to go to sleep and my stomach was yelling at me. I think I want to do it again, I felt better and more lively when I cut Soda out of my diet completely. As I said, my goal isn't to lose weight, it's just me trying to feel better and not so sluggish.

So, starting today, May 03 2010, I am officially going to give up Soda once again. Now... by Thursday, this is gonna suck, because I have been through caffeine withdrawal many times, and each time sucks and reminds me never to do it again. I am also going to limit the amount of fast food I eat. I'm going to try and be a little healthier in my life. I also plan to start walking more often. I found last year (or the year before) with my friend Jess, that walking along the Kenduskeg River to downtown Bangor is a nice walk, and is always nice to walk with another person. Which brings me to offer if anyone would like to walk with me, that would be awesome. Over the next few days, you'll see some journals from me, most likely, talking about the changes I am making and that my body is making. I hope to start doing Wii Fit again, I felt good when I did it, and this time I really want to keep going. Which means, I would ask each of you to keep cheering me on and help me to become more fit. I have amazing friends, and I couldn't ask for anyone better. Help me to push myself a little more. I promise, I am going to do it.
