Making A Vow...Eventually...

Another update and it hasn’t even been a couple months yet. Yeah…I’m good.

Not a lot going on as usual. Hours at work had to be cut back slightly just because it’s been slow. I’m getting my normal hours, but the couple extra I used to get are gone. Ah well, it wasn’t a lot, but still. A couple hours extra a week adds up though.

On the gaming front (what other front do I have anymore?), there’s been some progress.
First and foremost, as of tonight I have 100% completed LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga. I have every Achievement and nothing left to do in this game. This is the first game I’ve gotten all Achievements in and I’m quite proud of this!
Dead Rising is a little slow going. I can’t believe how tough this game is. Not that I can’t stay alive or anything, but managing to escort all the survivors, Otis the janitor only calling when I’m busy and the psychopaths in the jeep in the courtyard all make for a very aggravating experience at times. The game is fun overall, but I’m gonna have to take it slow.
Started Eternal Sonata this past weekend. And I have to say I’m blown away by it already. The graphics remind me of a mix between Kingdom Hearts and Baten Kaitos with its vibrant use of colors, detail and design.
The music is stunning and fits very well with the story and moods of the game. The characters intrigue from the start. The girl you start with really has my attention as it’s her story seemingly driven by tragedy more so than Chopin (who we know the fate of historically). Already the game has also triggered a favorite moment with me with the segment on the Heaven’s Mirrors/Death Flowers. Want to know what exactly it is? Play the game. The game play too is simple, streamlined and yet has so much a classic feel/element to it that I found it easy to slip into and play from the start. My only complaint is that there could have been more achievements spread out over the game’s 1000 points, but minor gripe.

On the reading front (and I bet you all thought I haven’t read anything lately), I’m moving along in Star Wars: Death Star again. I admit I took a lengthy pause due to getting wrapped up in video games, but I’ve since gone back and am enjoying the book very much. I’m more than half way done and the book is very different from the standard Star Wars book. There’s not one single main plot (aside from building the Death Star). Instead, it’s a bunch of minor plots with both new and familiar characters all coming together in the climax of the Death Star’s destruction. There’s no climatic battle, there’s no confrontation the story build sup to aside from the Battle of Yavin. It’s just very interesting because the book itself reads and entrances as if it’s as epic as the next Star Wars book. Very well done.

That’s about it for now. Tomorrow night I hope to have an entry with more personal things in my life, thoughts, etc going on. I know lately is’ been all video games and books. I used to write or have substance in this journal. I’m hoping to get that back.

Till then though, later!

video games, books, work (okay), sw: death star, xbox 360
