Merry Christmas...Now What?

”Everyday I think of you,
You’re on my mind.
Some things in the past are better left behind.
Every night I dream of you,
The images as clear as day”
-Boston, Cant’cha Say (You Believe In Me)

So, I check late last night and it seems everyone did a Christmas LJ but me. I was wrapped up in a computer game. Sorry!

First, let me say I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas.
Mine was okay. Nothing special. Went to my mother’s (was there at about 1pm). Was kind of boring. Didn’t do much and I felt ill halfway through. I think I was just overheated from putting together half brother’s entertainment stand all the way up stairs in the back room where all the heat seemed to build up.
Bryan had a good Christmas though, which is what I’m thankful for. He got the following:

Disney’s Robin Hood (DVD, 2 disc collector’s edition)
Over The Hedge (DVD)
Leroy & Stitch (DVD)
Sonic Riders (GameCube)
Star Wars: Battlefront II (Xbox)
Lego Star Wars II (Xbox)
GameBoy Advanced Micro (Limited Edition)
Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga (GBA)

And a ton of other stuff, from computers, to a plug and play Superman video game for the TV, to coloring books, markers and paints, to an art easel and more.
There were some highlights to him opening them and/or getting them in general. He literally hugged and kissed (yes, kissed!) SW: Battlefront II when he opened it. He was so excited to get it and happy and that alone made me smile.
Robin Hood (Disney’s) was a gift I was very glad to find and get him. People who know me know I’m not a huge fan of Disney animated movies, ESPECIALLY the “classic” era. But Robin Hood is one of the very few “old school” ones I have really good fond memories of. I still enjoy it. The songs and the animation were great, and so was the action. The DVD is fully restored in quality and sound (5.1 surround!) and he’ll be able to enjoy it in its fullest.
Sonic Riders was cool to see too if only because he always gets a kick out of Sonic. The game looks pretty decent, though I haven’t tried it yet.
All in all, he should be content for a good while.

As for me, I spent Christmas after I got home form mother’s, playing Star Wars: Empire At War: Forces of Corruption on the PC (an early b-day/Christmas gift from my granny!). I finally got it working. For some reason, SW:EaW and the expansion always froze my compy shortly into the game, though I never could figure out why since I have more than the recommended specs to play it. But so long as I play with the “auto detect” settings (everything low extreme Textures to max and some increased gamma) I can play just fine no problem.
So, last night, I played for hours, exploring the new aspects of the game and I really like the story despite how um, jumbled events are within the EU continuity. But ash well. Still a good play. Can’t wait to get back.

Started up my reading again. I’m doing decent. I’m still on book 3 of my DragonLance book. I know, it’s taking me way too long to finish it. I keep putting it off for other things, but no more. I’m gonna do what Tara does if I have to; set aside time for reading. But I have so much to read and so little time. Ah well. It’s getting good. There was a nice couple chapters focused solely on 2 of the dragons in the story and that really got me going. Can’t wait for more.

I’m really getting into the fantasy genre a lot as a whole. Went to Posters.com and looked up dragons and also fantasy. A LOT of posters there I’d like and to get framed. I think between my new interests in the genre and working at the frame shop in Ben Franklin, I’m getting a real eye for the artistic aspects of it all. *sigh* One more aspect I can’t afford. I priced one poster I was looking into buying. And I got the measurements and looked at framing how I wanted it. $423….I have good, but expensive taste…

Speaking of work, found out today mizd_1 gave her 3 week notice *sob*. Me no likie! While I do understand her desire to leave and I am glad she will be happy, I know I’ll miss her. I enjoyed talking to her and really, she’s what made going to work worth it. She made me look forward to work and I’ll miss that.
…Maybe if I throw temper tantrums everyday for 3 weeks…

I guess that’s it for now. Till later!
