Challenge #044
Description: Write a letter to an advice columnist from the POV of a fictional character. You can have them write about whatever problem you like--an annoying co-worker, the difficulties of trying to balance finding love with saving the world, the proper etiquette for informing your undead ex that he's not invited to your upcoming wedding, etc.
Letters should be between 100 and 500 words long.
You'll notice that this challenge is labelled "Part 1." That's because there's going to be a second part later on, where everyone else gets to guess which character each letter is from. To that end, a couple of rules:
1. In the grand tradition of advice columns everywhere, you can't use anyone's real name, either the letter writer's or anyone they're talking about. You can substitute "realistic" pseudonyms, you can make up snarky nicknames, or you can call them Person A and Person B, but you can't use any actual names.
2. In order to keep things challenging, you're also forbidden from using the names of any fandom-specific organizations or places. So no S.H.I.E.L.D. or HYDRA or Sunnydale or Beacon Hills. You can describe them ("a small town in California"); you just can't mention them by name.
You can mention organizations and places that exist in the real world. If your character works for the CIA or lives in London, you can say that. And you can provide whatever details you like about their occupation, history, and hobbies that don't violate the above rules. It's up to you how challenging you want the guessing to be. (I'll probably include a list of fandoms in the guessing post.)
Please submit your letters using the following form:
Team: Fandom: Character: Word Count: If you want your letter to include any formatting (bold, italics, etc.), please submit your letter in a textarea box like this:
LETTER GOES HERE
(You're welcome to use a textarea box regardless, because that's a bit easier for me, but it doesn't really matter unless you want your formatting in there.)
Points: 15 points per letter, regardless of length; each person can submit up to two letters for a total of 30 points. There will be more points for successful guessing later.
Due Date: July 18th,
11:59pm EDTSubmitting: Submit to this entry according to the instructions above. Please don't post your letter(s) anywhere else until the guessing is over.
