Alec inhaled deeply taking in the scent that flooded into the long hallway. He let out a chuckle as he came to a stop outside the door which was cracked open. That explained why the scent was so strong. It was letting the smell out of the kitchen drift into the hallway. He pushed the door inward and took in the sight around him.

A bag of sugar was tipped on its side spilling the crystallized pieces onto the counter. A bag of apples was sitting there with what Alec could see that eight of the apples had been taken out of the bag. He walked closer to the counter, setting his hand down on the open book, reading the words out loud.

“Caramel Apple Pie…” Alec let out a chuckle. “Really Magnus?” Just that morning Alec had mentioned that he had had a craving for apple pie and caramel. He hadn’t thought that Magnus would bake a pie for him. He turned around when he heard the quick footsteps rushing into the kitchen, followed by a meow.

“Oh you’re home.” Magnus greeted with a smile. He came over and wrapped his arms around Alec, pulling him in for a quick kiss. “I wasn’t expecting you until later.” He moved away from Alec and gave him another warm smile.

“Well it turns out that the demons we were after weren’t as hard to get as Jace and Izzy thought they would be. So I am back, but if you would like me to leave…”Alec let his sentence trail off as he looked down at Chairman Meow. He was walking a figure eight weaving between his legs pushing against him with his head.

“Hey I didn’t say that.” Magnus held up the wooden mixing spoon and pointed it at Alec. “We are happy that you are home, just surprised.” Magnus too looked down at the cat who was purring loudly.

“I am surprised too. I didn’t expect this.” Alec motioned to the baking ingredients on the counter. He bent down and ran his hand across Chairman Meow's back. He heard Magnus chuckle and stood back up. He couldn't help but watch Magnus as he moved around gracefully, just like a cat.

Magnus just smiled at Alec.

“It will be a great dessert after dinner.” Alec commented and felt his stomach grumble at the thought.

“Oh Honey, this isn’t dessert that is what you are for!" Magnus smirked at the blush that crept up into Alec’s cheeks and he started to chew on his bottom lip.

Alec tried his best to pretend that he hadn’t heard what Magnus had said but he knew the blush was giving him away. “I guess..." Alec paused, glancing down at the purring cat. "I'll have to make that French Almond Nougat or Chocolate Truffles with Sea Salt that you say you like so much. As repayment...” He never used to stumble on his words as much as he did around Magnus.

“I can think of repayment in other ways but if you insist on making those too, I will not stop you.” The smirk never left Magnus’ lips as the blush deepened on Alec’s cheeks, creeping up to his ears. He let out a chuckle and turn his back on Alec again.
