Chapter 5
Standing in the shower, with warm water dripping down on him, Ryo put his hand against the wall and groaned softly. He still couldn’t believe that he was getting ready to see his ex, Ueda and Jin as well in less than an hour.
“Gawd-” he sighed.
He heard the door open and instantly tensed up for some reason. Then he realized it was Uchi and he slowly relaxed, continuing to rub a bar of soap over his body. Uchi didn’t say anything, which made Ryo curious.
“Hey, Hiroki-I’ll be a couple more minutes then you can have the shower,” he said mindlessly.
Uchi still didn’t say anything, and Ryo turned around only to see Uchi leaning on the counter and crying uncontrollably. Ryo gasped and quickly washed himself off before grabbing a towel and turning the shower knobs. He opened up the shower door and closed it behind him, leaning over his boyfriend while maintaining a grip on his towel.
“Hiroki-what’s wrong? Why are you crying?”
Uchi sniffled and wiped the tears that were coming down his cheeks. He was gasping and found himself unable to get out complete sentences.
“Oh-Ryo-I-I”
Uchi started to wail and grabbed onto Ryo, holding him tightly.
“Hiro-Hiroki-what’s going on?”
Uchi looked at Ryo with his watery eyes and his mouth open as he panted some more. He tried catching his breath before explaining his reason for crying unexpectedly.
“We-I have something that I have to tell you,” he said under his breath.
“What is it?”
“I-I kissed Jin!”
Ryo’s eyes went big and he sucked in a breath, sharply. He looked angry but then his shoulders went down; his face relaxed and he didn’t have the same murderous look in his eyes he had so many times before.
“I see,” he whispered.
Uchi stopped crying and just looked at Ryo oddly.
“You see? That’s all you can say?”
“I’m sure it was an accident and you seem sorry enough so I don’t think it meant anything to you,” Ryo paused but then he looked up at Uchi and smiled, “It’s okay. Don’t worry about it.”
Ryo walked out of the bathroom, towel still around his waist as Uchi continued looking at the other man strangely. But then the younger man got angry.
“Are you kidding me, Ryo?!”
Ryo stopped what he was doing; he had put on his robe and left the towel on the bed nearby. He turned around and jumped a bit at the scary look on Uchi’s face.
“I tell you that I kissed someone else and all you can say is ‘don’t worry about it’?! You-ARE YOU AN IDIOT?!”
Ryo smiled awkwardly, “I’m sorry?”
“WHY ARE YOU APOLOGIZING?! I’m the one who’s supposed to be apologizing! I-I-I’m the one who cheated on you,” Uchi said with a slightly saddened tone of voice.
Ryo stared blankly.
“RYO!”
“Huh? Oh-um-what am I supposed to say?”
“SOMETHING-ANYTHING! Don’t just stand there like a statue! Get angry! Curse! Throw something! Don’t just brush it off as if-”
“As if what?”
“As if you don’t care. As if you don’t care that I did something like that to you. I mean, come on, Ryo, that’s not the reaction I’d expect from you of all people,” Uchi crossed his arms and looked away, sadly.
Ryo put out his hand but then held it back. He looked away, in a way that made him seem guilty of something. Luckily, Uchi didn’t pick up on this and just wiped his eyes, sighing loudly.
“Well, we might as well get ready for dinner. We’re running late. Get dressed, I’m going to take a shower,” Uchi spoke coldly to the other man, and closed the door behind him. Ryo fell backwards on the bed and stared at the ceiling.
He’d been thinking way too much lately and just took what had just happened and stuffed it in the back of his mind. He got up and put on his nicest dress shirt and pair of slacks.
As they rode to the restaurant in the taxi, neither man was speaking to the other. Ryo couldn’t think of anything to say but it didn’t matter since Uchi would not have possibly listened to him. After about 15 minutes, they arrived at the restaurant and Uchi lit up. When the cab came to a stop, he unbuckled his seatbelt and practically jumped out of the car.
“What the fuck-” Ryo murmured, before taking out his wallet and paying the cabbie. He crawled out from the backseat and when he stood on the sidewalk, he felt his heart clench like someone was clutching it. He saw Ueda looking amazing in an open-collared dress shirt underneath a dark gray blazer. He also had bedroom eyes on, they were half-closed and his lips were slightly pouty. Ryo’s pants tightened a bit but not as much as his heart.
“Damn-” he gasped.
But then his eyes turned to see Uchi and Jin smiling and laughing. He remembered what Uchi had told him and he went stomping off to greet the other man.
“Akanishi-san! How are you?! Still nursing the bloody lip I gave you?!” Ryo called to him, with a devilish smile on his face.
“RYO!” Uchi had an embarrassed look on his face.
Ueda just rolled his eyes and shook his head; apparently this wasn’t anything new to him. Jin looked at Ryo with a half-hearted smile on his face.
“Nishikido-san-I forgot to thank you for that. Why don’t you come a little closer so I can show my gratitude?” he threatened.
“Okay-you two-keep it together now,” Ueda intervened, his tone showing that he was not that interested in keeping the peace but more so in keeping himself from becoming as embarrassed as Uchi was.
“Well then-shall we?” Jin asked, sticking out his arm so that Ueda could clutch to it.
Ueda shook his head and walked in ahead of the other three. Ryo smiled at Uchi, nervously but the other man just looked away and instead smiled at Jin, prompting Ryo to grumble. He was the last one in and he forcefully opened the door, stomping in like a tantrum-throwing child.
They sat at their table and no one would say a word. Needless to say, the atmosphere was beyond awkward. From the looks of it, Ueda was mad at Ryo and Uchi for obvious reasons but most definitely was mad at Jin for thinking of the dinner idea. Uchi was angry at Ryo because of his lack of a reaction at the big revelation that the younger man had kissed Jin. Jin was angry with Ryo for the most obvious of reasons as well; the biggest one being that the other man was still in love with Jin’s current boyfriend.
And then there was Ryo who was mad at everyone, including the waiter.
“Can we get some damn service?!” he demanded, smacking his hand on the table, shaking the water glasses.
“Could you shut up for two seconds?” Uchi whispered angrily.
“Oh, I’m sorry, are you speaking to me now? Because I was under the impression that I was banned from talking to you not to mention listening to you speak,” Ryo quipped with a sly smile on his face.
Uchi glared at him.
“Is something wrong?” Jin asked, innocently enough.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Ryo glared.
Ueda just sighed angrily as he perused the menu that was in his hand. Ryo turned and looked at the man sitting across from him.
“Do you have something to say-Ueda?” Ryo growled, still smiling; the vein on his forehead was throbbing.
Ueda looked up at the other man, put down the menu and crossed his arms. He stared Ryo straight into eyes and didn’t say a word. Uchi and Jin almost forgot why they were angry and looked at what was about to take place.
Finally Ueda spoke.
“You think you’re being mature, acting like this? You actually believe that anyone can have respect for you when you’re acting like a complete asshole? Well, here’s the thing, Ryo-you are by the far the worst human being that I have ever met,” he said with a sharp tone, while maintaining an appropriate volume level. He then turned to Uchi and with a compassionate look in his eyes that didn’t seem to be pretend, he said:
“I honestly think you are an amazing person for being able to put up with someone like him. You must have nerves of steel and-”
“DON’T ACT SO HIGH AND MIGHTY!”
Ryo was standing up, huffing and puffing and looking down on Ueda. Ueda turned his head and with a disgusted look in his eyes, he slowly got up as well.
The two were eye-to-eye and both of them looked mad as hell.
Ryo whispered menacingly, “You don’t have the fucking right to talk down to me, you delirious son-of-a-bitch.”
Ueda laughed, “Always so gentlemanly, aren’t you, Nishikido Ryo? You kiss Uchi-san with that mouth? I mean, really-”
“Apparently, I’m not the only one who’s been doing so, right, Akanishi?!”
Uchi’s face turned absolutely white. His mouth dropped, as did Jin’s.
Ryo realized what he had said and he immediately backed down from Ueda, sitting down abruptly and trying his best to apologize to Uchi but before he could speak, Jin cried.
“What-I-I never-what?!”
“Jin-is this true?” Ueda asked with sad eyes.
Jin turned to the side and started stuttering, “I-I-I-I”
Ueda’s eyes started filling with tears and he said, under his breath, “I knew something was going on,” before running off, out of sight.
Ryo groaned softly and watched as Jin followed him to the bathroom, which is where he ultimately ended up. Uchi started gasping and babbling softly.
“Hiroki, I-”
“Ryo! You do not get to speak to me-anymore! When I told you that I was-I was just lying to you!”
Ryo’s eyes got big and he gripped the tablecloth so he wouldn’t fall over.
“You lied to me?”
“Yes-I-I lied to you. I was just trying to make you jealous-see how you would react and it failed miserably!”
“What on earth are you talking about?!”
“I’m talking about-I wanted to know how you would react if I cheated on you with Jin. Apparently, it wouldn’t matter to you even if I did!”
“Hiroki-this is not the place to be discussing this,” Ryo said, gesturing for Uchi to lower his voice.
“Yeah, I figured it wasn’t. That’s why I wasn’t planning on telling you the truth in the first place-but it doesn’t seem like it would matter either way. You gave more of a reaction just being in the same room as Ueda than you did to hearing that your boyfriend kissed someone else.”
“But it’s not true so I don’t-”
“You know what, Ryo-I’m going home but I’d really like it-if you weren’t there.”
“Hiroki-what are you saying?”
“I’m saying-I want you to move out. It’s over between us,” Uchi said with a trembling lip and red eyes.
Ryo’s heart sank and he felt like he was about to exhale his last breath.
“Are you serious?”
“No, Ryo-I’m only saying that to get a reaction from you-OF COURSE, I’M SERIOUS!”
“WELL, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW SINCE YOU-”
“Jin!”
Ryo and Uchi turned and looked at Jin who was standing across the table from them with tear-stained cheeks and shakey hands.
“I’m sorry, you two but-Tatsuya isn’t talking to me and he won’t come out of the bathroom so I think-I think we need to end this dinner. I’m really sorry about the inconvenience and Uchi-kun-I think you and I need to talk.”
Uchi blushed and nodded; the pair walked outside, leaving Ryo at the table, confused and unsure of what to do next. He didn’t stay for long before heading to the bathroom in order to coax Ueda into coming out of hiding. He strolled into the large, dimly lit room and was glad to see that it was empty, except for a pair of feet in a stall near the wall. He smiled for a split second before walking over and knocking on the door.
“Oi, Tatsuya-it’s me-Ryo-you can come out now. I think Jin and Hiroki are going home now.”
There was no response.
“Hey, Tatsuya, are you in there? I-”
The door opened slowly and there was Ueda, sitting on the toilet, curled up against the wall, crying and wiping his cheeks dry. Ryo hadn’t ever seen Ueda cry like that before which was a surprise since they had been together for so long.
“Tatsuya-are you okay?”
“No, I’m not okay, Ryo! My-My boyfriend-he cheated on me-with your boyfriend! Of course I’m not okay, you idiot!” he growled as he tried turning his face away so he didn’t have to look at the other man.
Ryo sighed and leant against the wall, “Well, if it makes you feel any better, it’s not true. Apparently, Hiroki was just telling me that so I would get jealous or something-I’m not exactly sure why.”
“Did-did it work?”
Ryo smiled and chuckled softly, staring at the random writing on the wall, “No actually-all I could say was ‘I see’. Haha I’m an idiot-you’re right.”
Ueda stopped crying and looked at Ryo, “You’re the dumbest person I’ve ever met!”
“Hey, now-you-I-you’re right. Oh gawd, I can’t believe that was all I could do.”
“I can’t believe you either. I swear sometimes you’re just-”
“Thanks but I really don’t need to hear any of your insults right about now-as much as it might make you feel better, I think I’ll end up just feeling like shit.”
Ueda laughed and it made Ryo’s skin tingle. The sound of the other man’s chuckles made it seem like nothing else mattered at that moment; Ryo found himself smiling as he saw Ueda close his eyes and let out a hearty giggle. It was times like these that made Ryo the most remorseful; all he had wanted was to make Ueda happy but he knew he’d only up hurting Uchi in the process and himself most of all.
As Ryo stared off into space, thinking, Ueda stopped laughing and slowly got up. He walked over to where Ryo was, and reached for the bathroom stall door, and closed and locked it tight. The pair was standing awfully close and Ryo could feel himself blushing intensely. For once, he was the one feeling shy and vulnerable; he prepared himself for Ueda’s kiss but all he got was a whisper in his ear.
“I wonder-does it make you jealous when I’m with Jin?”
Ryo opened his eyes and felt himself go even redder in the face. He looked at Ueda with earnest eye and out of nowhere, the other man grabbed his face and crashed their mouths together. Their lips met and their tongues entwined; Ryo felt his legs go numb as he tried to hold himself up against the dirty tile wall. But at that moment, he wasn’t too worried about sanitation, at least not entirely.
Once Ueda started undoing his belt that was when he got a little worried.
“Tat-”
But he didn’t even get a chance to object because in a blink of an eye, Ueda was down on his knees, his lips around Ryo’s erection as it poked through his boxer shorts. Ryo’s eyes fluttered and his breathing became labored. Ueda sucked hungrily as he put his hand around Ryo’s member and pumped it profusely. Ryo could only groan but tried to keep his voice lowered. He put his hands in the other’s hair and mussed it up in order to make Ueda twitch. Ueda reacted perfectly and started to suck harder, leaving Ryo want to cry for more.
Then the younger man came and Ueda licked the sticky substance from his lips and his fingers as well. He slowly got up and looked at Ryo, his tongue hanging out of his mouth and his forehead wet with perspiration. He took some toilet paper and wiped his mouth before kissing Ryo fervently on the mouth. There was the faintest taste of Ryo’s cum in the other’s mouth but the former didn’t care; he was just enjoying the feel of Ueda’s tongue going against his own.
The two wrapped their arms around each other and tried to maintain their balance in the tiny stall without making too much noise just in case someone entered the room. Ryo started biting on Ueda’s neck, most definitely with the intention of leaving a mark. Ueda just moaned in response.
“Ryo-”
Ryo kissed the older man again, rubbing his neck and pushing him against the opposite wall. When he pulled away, he tried catching his breath.
He didn’t speak but he gave a look that showed Ueda exactly what he was thinking. Ueda spoke up in response.
“I-I love you, Ryo,” he whispered.
Ryo stopped; he was sure what he had heard were the three little words that he had been longing to hear coming from Ueda’s mouth. But this whole situation seemed so unreal, he couldn’t exactly give a reply that was intelligent or even comprehensible.
“I-uh-you,” was all he managed to say before getting kissed again by a lustful Ueda.
The pair almost fell out of the stall as they continued to ravage each other. When they were done, they opened the door, slowly to make sure no one was at the urinals or at the sinks. The coast looked clear so they slowly came sauntering out, with Ueda out first.
However, Ueda stopped dead in his tracks, leaving Ryo still standing in the stall.
“Tatsuya, what’s wrong-keep walk-ing-”
Ryo stopped as well.
“Well, well, look what we have here, Uchi-kun-it looks like your boyfriend and my boyfriend are enjoying each other’s company-in a public restroom. Isn’t it romantic?”
Uchi just looked at Ryo, angrily but at the same time, disappointed.
Ueda cried, “Jin!”
“Tatsuya!”
“Ryo!”
“Dammit-”
