Chapter 6
Toma didn’t say anything and just blinked a few times. It seemed like the whole room went silent to see his reaction.
“Toma--”
Toma shook himself, and looked at all the worried faces staring back at him. He felt like saying something dramatic as if he was really offended but all he could do was plaster a fake smile on his face.
“I should’ve known--”
Jun’s mouth dropped, “What?!”
Toma shuddered, “What? What’d I say?”
“You just said that you should’ve known--” Yoko responded, “Should’ve known what?”
Toma gulped and continued to smile, “I need to go to the bathroom. Excuse me--”
Just then he ran quickly to the men’s room and locked himself in a stall. No one was around so he let a gigantic sigh and a bit of a sniffle. His eyes turned red and he wiped his nose as he began to have a bit of trouble breathing. He almost full-on started crying but he heard the door open and his breath was silenced.
“Toma--”
It was Eita, looking to comfort his new best friend. Toma let out a sigh and opened the stall door, waving the taller man over.
“Over here,” he said, making a bit of a saluting motion.
Eita smiled and walked over, but then started frowning when he noticed the redness in the other man’s eyes.
“Have you been crying?”
“NO--okay--maybe a little--ah--I don’t know why though! Why am I so emotional these days?!” Toma hit his hand against the stall and then cringed in pain when he did.
Eita took Toma’s hand and patted it gently, before smiling and saying, “This is getting to you, isn’t it?”
“Huh?”
“This whole thing with Yamashita is getting to you, but you’re not letting yourself admit to it because--you’re scared.”
Toma blinked.
“You--you’re telling me that I’m scared? What kind of friend are you?”
Eita laughed.
“Friendship is about honesty, no? If I didn’t say things like that, you’d just think of me as someone to hang out with every time you were mad at Yamashita. I’m sorry, Toma, but I’m not going to be your rebound friend.”
“Eita--”
Eita’s smile disappeared and he looked serious.
“I don’t like to see you cry.”
And slowly but surely, he took the shorter man into his arms and embraced him tightly. Toma’s eyes popped out and his body went tense. After a few seconds of body contact, Eita pulled away and looked Toma in the eyes.
“You need to tell him how you feel--no one else can do it for you.”
And with that, Eita walked right out of the bathroom and sat back down at his seat. Despite the stares of everyone else sitting at the table with him, he just sipped his water and said nothing.
Pi didn’t speak; his eyes wide open as was his mouth. He sat in the backseat of Jin’s car, with Kame in the front passenger seat, turning back and looking at the older man.
“Pi--”
Jin shushed Kame and shook his head, whispering, “Just leave him alone--he’s got a lot to think about and--”
“I can’t believe this,” Pi muttered.
Kame and Jin looked back, Jin hadn’t yet started the car and they were still in the parking lot.
“Pi--”
“After almost a decade of friendship--I find out that Ryo is in love with me--from his new boyfriend?! WHAT THE HELL?! Why--why does this shit keep happening to me?! If he’s just doing what Takki did--I’m going to--”
“Ryo’s not in love with you.”
Pi blinked and looked at Jin, who had his eyes in front of him.
“W-what?”
Jin turned back and looked at the other man, straight in the eyes, his expression unchanged.
“Ryo’s not in love with you. You all misunderstood him--especially Tat-chan. I’ve known Ryo just as long as you have and--”
“Did he ever say that he wasn’t in love with me?”
Jin didn’t say anything, and shook his head no.
“Then how can you be so sure?”
“I don’t know--I just have this feeling--”
“Well, feeling doesn’t overrule the truth, Jin--even you should know that by now,” Pi crossed his arms and slouched in his seat and stared out the window.
Jin said nothing to defend himself and just sighed before turning the car on and driving off.
The next day, Ryo got a surprise when someone unexpected showed up to his apartment that he shared with Jin.
“T-Toma?”
“Hi--uh--can I come in?”
Ryo nodded his head and the two stepped inside with Ryo closing the door behind them. Toma automatically sat down on the couch and put his hands in his lap. He exhaled loudly and looked ahead at a picture of him with Ryo, Pi, and Jin taken during their senior year in high school.
“That was a great day, wasn’t it?” he mindlessly said, pointing at the picture and smiling.
Ryo looked at the picture and made an odd face, “Um--yeah--so--why’re you here? If you don’t mind me asking--”
“I heard about it--you--and Pi--or rather you being in love with Pi,” Toma smiled awkwardly.
Ryo’s face turned white and he hung his head in shame. He trudged over to the couch and sat down next to his friend, burying his face in his hands.
“Son-of-a--Who else knows?! Lemme guess--it was Aiba--he told you--or was it Jin?! JIN’S GOTTA THE BIGGEST MOUTH I SWEAR--”
“It’s okay--I should’ve known in the first place--”
“What?”
“The way you act when you’re with Pi--the fact that you always were more possessive over him than me--the things you say about him when he’s not around--the look you have on your face every time he walks into a room--it all makes sense,” Toma chuckled softly, realizing how much Ryo had given himself away over the years.
“It’s not what you think, Toma--I swear--I--”
“Why are you getting so defensive? It’s not like I should care whether or not you love Pi--”
“OH THAT DOES IT!” Ryo grunted as he stood up and threw his hands in the air.
Toma looked shocked at Ryo’s sudden outburst. The shorter man started pacing back and forth, muttering obscenities and looking like he was going to kill someone.
“What does what?” Toma said with a crack in his voice.
“YOU ARE AN IDIOT!”
“WHAT?!”
“YOU--YOU--I COULD KILL YOU! YOU AND PI! THE BOTH OF YOU PISS ME OFF SO MUCH! I COULD--” Ryo grabbed a cushion from a nearby chair and tore in two, letting the stuffing fall to the floor and the fabric fly in the air.
Toma gasped.
Ryo pointed his finger at the other man, “You--you need to listen to what I have to say before you start making your damn assumptions--I--”
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
“Mother of sh--who the hell is that?” Ryo growled as he walked over to the door and opened it suddenly. He nearly fell over from shock to see Pi’s face.
“Hey--Ryo--I--”
“YAMAPI!”
Toma jumped up from the couch and turned around quickly. It had been the first time Toma had seen the other man since the disastrous party he threw. He gulped, his stomach fighting itself as he felt dizzy.
“What are you doing here?” Ryo’s voice cracked.
“I came to talk to you and--TOMA! WHAT--WHAT--”
Toma laughed nervously and put his hands in his pockets, but then took them out again and attempted to cross his arms but found that uncomfortable; instead he put his arms to his side.
“I--I--I think I should go--I have things to do anyways and--”
“No--I should go--clearly I interrupted you and Ryo and I--”
The pair made their way to the door but were stopped when Ryo stood in the doorway, blocking their only exit.
“Ryo--” they both started.
Ryo scowled and whispered in an annoyed tone, “You two--you’re going to sit your asses on that couch--and listen to what I have to say--or so help me God, I will kill you both! NOW! GO NOW! SIT DOWN!”
They both got scared and ran, sitting down on the couch, next to each other and eagerly awaiting what Ryo had to say. Ryo cleared his throat and ran his fingers through his hair before sauntering over to the couch, and standing in front of two of his best friends in the entire world. The coffee table was behind him so he sat down on it, putting his face in his hands before starting.
“Okay--” he finally said, “this whole thing is one big misunderstanding--I assure you--uh--okay--wow--um--” Ryo had trouble speaking; stuttering was his only way of communicating at this point.
“I--I--I love Yamapi--”
“I KNEW IT!” Toma blurted out without thinking, quickly covering his mouth after saying it.
“LET ME FINISH!” Ryo scolded, making Toma’s cheeks go red.
Ryo continued, “As I was saying--I do love you, Yamapi--but as a friend--I mean--I did love you as more--before--but--not anymore--not entirely--I--oh boy--this is--this is harder than I thought.”
“What are you trying to say?” Yamapi asked with a somewhat hopeful gleam in his eye. Ryo looked at him and felt his cheeks go a tad hot as he looked in the other’s eyes. He quickly looked away so he would be able to continue his explanation.
“Okay--here’s the truth--I--I was in love with you, Yamapi--since about our second year in high school--BUT--I--I eventually got over you once--once I realized how close you and Toma really were.”
Toma’s eyes widened once again. Despite all that had happened, he still was not prepared for such shocking news coming from yet another one of his friends.
“How close we were?” Yamapi asked for reassurance.
“Yes--the truth is--I was always trying to make Toma jealous of you and me by constantly asking only you to hang out with me. It worked--a little too well--because eventually I began to realize that Toma wasn’t just jealous because he wasn’t being invited to hang out with us. Man--uh--I mean this had been going on for quite a while before I realized that I was no match. I was still always curious about whether or not you had any feelings for me--which is why I would do things like get caught by you, making out with someone else--for example, Tatsuya--the other night,” Ryo blushed at the mentioning of his boyfriend’s name.
“You’re telling me--all that shit you used to pull in the past--that was to make me jealous of you and Pi? Because you think I love Pi or something--haha what the hell, Ryo? Where would you get an idea like that?” Toma laughed nervously.
Ryo shook his head and Pi began to laugh as well, “Yeah--Ryo--what would make you think that Toma would be into me like that? Haha it’s ridiculous--I mean--”
“Just shut up, okay?! I’m trying to confess something and you guys are making a joke of it--”
“Sorry,” both men bowed their heads in apology.
“As I was saying--I WAS in love with you, Pi--but I moved on a while ago--I still care about you--both of you and it annoys the shit outta me whenever you two act like dicks to each other just because one of you doesn’t hang out with the other. And it pisses me off the most whenever I hang out with you, Pi, and all you can fucking talk about is Toma!”
Pi’s face went red and Toma made an “oh” face as he turned to look at his friend.
Pi just chuckled awkwardly, “Haha I--I d-don’t talk about T-Toma all the time--you’re--”
“Don’t deny it, you idiot--everyone’s been witness to it so you don’t pretend like you don’t do it.”
Toma just laughed but stopped when Ryo glared at him.
“Don’t you laugh--you’re just as bad. I’ve had dinner with you multiple times and every single time I had to stop you in the middle of one of your stupid stories about things you and Pi used to do in high school. Uh--news flash--I WAS THERE!”
Toma hung his head in shame and had the same expression as Yamapi who was equally embarrassed.
Ryo sighed with relief, “Well--I feel better letting all that out--now if you’ll excuse me--I need to apologize to a certain man who thinks that I have feelings for someone other than him. Excuse me,” Ryo got up and went to his bedroom, picking up his phone and dialing on the way.
Toma and Pi sat there, side by side, neither one saying anything or doing anything. A few times they looked at each other but when their eyes would meet, they quickly looked away.
Finally, they both spoke simultaneously.
“I--” they both said in shaky voices.
Toma laughed, “Uh--you first--”
“Okay,” Pi replied, “I think we need to talk--about everything that’s happened since the--”
All of a sudden a ring was heard; it was coming from Toma’s phone and he answered it.
“Hello? OH EITA! I forgot--uh--what?? Oh--yeah--uh-huh--sure--be there in a few minutes--don’t start without me--haha--bye”
Toma hung up and looked at Pi very concerned.
“I gotta go--I forgot that I had plans with Eita today--um--yeah, he’s waiting for me so I better get going. I’ll--I’ll see you later, Yamapi.”
Pi nodded his head and smiled, “S-Sure. See you later.”
Toma smiled awkwardly and left. He stopped and turned around, getting Pi’s hopes up a little.
“Tell Ryo I said bye.”
Pi’s shoulders slump.
“Sure--”
“Bye,” Toma left and didn’t look back. But when he closed the door, he took a deep breath and gulped a bit before leaving to meet up with Eita.
Ryo came out a little while later, and looked around, finding Pi looking a little down. There was also no sign of Toma either.
“Hey--where’s Toma?”
Pi looked up and glared at the older man, before putting his hand on his forehead and sitting in a sort of “thinker” pose.
Toma made his way to the front door of a café and opened it, only to find Eita standing on the other side.
“Hello!” the taller man waved.
Toma jumped since he wasn’t expecting to see the other man right away.
“Heeeyyy, Eita--how are you?”
Eita’s smile disappeared and he looked serious, “What’s with that guilty expression on your face?”
“Eh?!”
Eita walked up to the shorter man and looked at him intently, causing Toma to blush a bit.
“You were with Yamapi, weren’t you?”
Toma gulped, nodding his head slowly.
Eita started to snicker before bursting out laughing, “Haha why are you so scared?! You’re acting like a cheating husband coming back from an affair.”
Toma glared, “Don’t say that! I was just--I wasn’t sure what you’d think if I said that I just came back from--wait a second--HOW DID YOU KNOW I WAS WITH YAMAPI?!”
Eita continued laughing, but even harder this time, “I can see it all over your face. And the way you said ‘Heeeyyy’ made me even more suspicious. Come on--let’s go get a table.”
Toma nodded and followed after the other man. The two sat at a table by a window and Eita sighed as he looked at the scenery.
“It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” he said as he stared at the fountain and courtyard that were in plain view. Toma nodded mindlessly and just stared at Eita.
“Um--so--what’s on your mind?”
“Hmm?”
Toma blinked, “Why’d you wanna see me today?”
“Oh!” Eita smiled, “There’s something I wanted to tell you, I--”
Toma felt his insides turn and his skin tingle. He knew what was coming or at least he thought that he did; his breath shortened and his hands started to shake uncontrollably.
“Toma, I wanted to tell you that I--”
“I can’t go out without you!”
Eita’s eyes widened as did Toma. The shorter of the two covered his mouth quickly as his cheeks reddened and his forehead was wet with perspiration.
“W-w-WHAT?!”
“I--Isn’t that what you were going to tell me? A confession--tell me that you liked me--I just assumed--”
“You assumed what? That I was gay?! What kind of person assumes something like that instead of letting someone tell them themselves?!”
“Huh?”
“I’m not gay!”
Toma sighed, a bit with relief but then he inhaled again, “Then what were you going to say?”
Eita leant his forehead against his open hand; his elbow was resting on the tabletop.
“I was TRYING to tell you that I met someone--A GIRL--she works in the floor below me and she’s really cute. Oh--AND SHE’S A GIRL!”
Toma started shaking again and Eita’s serious expression disappeared as a smile wiped across his face. He then began to laugh while Toma grew even more nervous since he had jumped to such a big conclusion.
“Aw--Toma--I’m just kidding with you--I don’t really mean to sound so rude but I’m really not gay--I do like girls--in fact--the girl I mentioned and I are dating now. Her name’s Eri.”
“That’s all nice and good but--you--you made me think that you liked me!”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
Eita was beginning to sound more like Ryo than his normal self; normally he was a bit reserved and chose to remain invisible most of the time, despite his height and his unusual hairstyle. But since Toma had been making weird assumptions, he had shown a different side to his friend.
“The way you were talking to me--about--not wanting to see me cry--and when you hugged me--and how you said that you wanted to be close to me and--”
“Oh--I get it. I was saying those things because I meant them--as a friend. Like I said, I think you’re a really cool guy--but I just want to be friends with you--I’m not interested in you in that way and--oh gawd, have I hurt your feelings? I--I’m so sorry--sorry,” Eita bowed his head and looked genuinely apologetic to Toma, who wasn’t really sure what was happening.
“No--no--I’m okay--I’m just shocked that I’m NOT right. Usually--I can pick up on these things--knowing when someone likes me or not but I guess--I guess--haha--I guess I made a bit of an ass of myself, didn’t I?”
“No, Toma, you didn’t--”
“Sorry, Eita. I don’t mean to be rude by assuming such things--I usually am a lot less suspicious of people.”
Eita’s lip trembled but then he just burst into laughter again, clutching at his stomach and nearly falling out of his chair.
“What are you laughing at?!”
“OH--OH--HAHA--YOU--AH--HAHA--”
“EITA!”
“Oh--sorry--sorry--I--HAHA--you’re just--I can’t believe you thought that I liked you.”
“Well, it’s not that hilarious--” Toma crossed his arms and huffed.
“No--no--I don’t mean like I would never like you--it’s just--I’m not into guys--you know--”
“Yeah, well--”
“I just realized what you just said.”
“Huh?”
“You said that you can usually tell when someone likes you?”
“Yeah?”
Eita started laughing again and it was driving Toma completely crazy.
“WILL YOU STOP LAUGHING AT ME?!”
“I--I’m sorry--Toma--that’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard you say--aside from you thinking that I liked you--but--this is really something,” Eita snickered in between phrases, barely able to contain himself.
“Why is that funny--it’s the truth. I usually can tell when someone likes--wait--are you trying to say something? Do you know something? Somebody likes me, don’t they--who is it? Tell me!”
Eita stopped laughing and just shook his head, unable to believe Toma would ask such a stupid question. But instead of answering the question, he simply said, “You’re such a smart boy--you figure it out. Now--what are you going to have for lunch?”
Toma wanted to continue pestering him but Eita just stuck his hand in front of the other’s face and immediately Toma stopped talking and picked up his menu to decide on what to eat.
After lunch, Toma and Eita went their separate ways and Toma still couldn’t believe that he made a mistake in thinking that Eita had had feelings for him. He walked down the street, looking very distraught; he wasn’t looking where he was going and accidentally bumped into someone, knocking the bag that was in the stranger’s hands.
Toma gasped, as he went down on the floor and collected the bag.
“Oh my gosh--I’m so sorry--I didn’t--”
“Toma-chan?”
Toma stopped; he recognized that voice. It was Takki and Toma’s heart started beating unnaturally fast.
“T-T-Takki?”
Takki smiled widely and as the two got up off the floor, he embraced the younger man tightly. Toma just gently patted the other’s back instead fully reciprocating the hug.
“How are you--I haven’t seen you since the party and--after you punched me--haha.”
Toma gave a somewhat annoyed look to the other man, “Yeah, I know--so--I heard you and Tsubasa are living together again--congratulations.”
Takki’s smile got wider and he started gushing like a smitten teenage girl.
“YES! We’re living together and it’s so great! He and I have never been this close--we’re a lot more communicative with one another and--well, there’s the sex, which is just amazing and--”
“TAKKI!” Toma cried with a disgusted look on his face.
Takki giggled, “Ah--sorry--maybe that’s a little more than you wanted to know?”
“You’re damn right it is! Gawd--I--what? What’s with that look on your face? Why are you smiling like that?”
Takki did have a weird expression on his face that made Toma’s skin crawl.
“So--how are you and Pi-chan doing? You two--you know--doing what I hope you’re doing?”
Toma blinked and looked strangely at the older man, “Excuse me?”
“Oh come on, Toma-chan--you can tell your good friend, Takki,” he said while nudging the shorter man, “tell me--is Pi-chan good? He looks like someone who’d be very gentle when making love and--”
“WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!”
Takki tilted his head, “You mean--you two aren’t--”
“FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, NO!”
“Oh--that’s too bad--well--I gotta go, Toma-chan. I’m making Tsuba a special dinner--it’s our anniversary--and you know what that means--” Takki’s eyebrows went up and down, suggestively and Toma just felt even more disgusted.
“See you later!” Takki patted Toma on the shoulder before taking his bag and walking away.
Toma just shuddered after feeling Takki’s hand on his shoulder, not to mention having the mental image of him and Tsubasa fucking each other.
“Son-of-a--UHHHHH!” he shook, feeling violated.
The next day, Toma got up out of bed and scratched his back. He took a look at the clock and sighed. He had overslept yet again but to him, it wasn’t such a big deal since he didn’t exactly have any plans. He wanted to put the covers over his head and just stay under them for the rest of his life, but he knew he had to get up or he’d feel unaccomplished.
He trudged to the shower and stripped naked before jumping into the steaming water coming from the showerhead. He had felt so numb since the day before that it was as if the hot water wasn’t even touching his skin. Sighing with disappointment, he washed himself and hoped that after the shower, he’d feel a lot cleaner. But then he thought about Takki had told him and he felt a little dirty; imagining Takki and Tsubasa having sex made him feel disgusted beyond description and he almost wanted to throw up just thinking about it. Then he thought about what else Takki had suggested; he thought about the fact that Takki thought that he, Toma, was having sex with Pi. Normally, such a thought would have made Toma feel as sick as the idea of Takki and Tsubasa going at it; but after all that had happened, it wasn’t that simple.
Imaging Pi naked gave Toma goosebumps which was ironic since he had hot water pouring on him. He then thought of being able to touch that skin, feel those abs, kiss those lips; and it was then that Toma started getting hard. So badly, he wanted to touch himself but he couldn’t do it; this was his best friend that he was fantasizing about, it wasn’t normal, not to him anyways.
He turned the dials of the shower and the hot water disappeared and was replaced with ice cold water. Needless to say, Toma wasn’t as aroused as he had been. In fact, it was quite the opposite.
“MOTHER OF SH--THAT’S COLD!” he cried.
Yamapi couldn’t blink; he just stared at a picture on his wall of him and Toma from the year before. The two were smiling and doing peace signs and looked genuinely happy with being with each other. Pi wanted so badly to go back to those days when he and Toma were so comfortable with each other and when every encounter was anything but awkward.
He wanted so badly to see his friend but he knew that he couldn’t, especially not after what had happened in Ryo’s apartment just the day before. It ate him, not being able to talk to Toma; things were so awkward and he didn’t know why. But then he thought about it; this had all started because of Toma’s jealousy over Pi’s friendship with Takki for one. And as selfish as he was being, Pi couldn’t exactly blame his friend since he himself had acted the same way when it came to Toma and others.
Pi sighed, and continued to stare at the picture until he felt his eyes go a bit dry.
Another couple of weeks passed by and both men were feeling completely helpless without the other. It was strange to be so far away from each other, emotionally despite their close proximity in reality. Pi lived about 5 or 10 minutes from Toma but he never took it upon himself to just go and visit the other; the idea never came to Toma either.
Their friends, on the other hand, were determined to turn things around.
“We gotta get them together--in the same room,” Jun said as he slammed his hand against Ryo’s kitchen table.
Apparently, there was an impromptu meeting with all of Toma and Yamapi’s friends, save a few people such as Eita, who was with his new girlfriend, and the lovebirds, Takki and Tsubasa, who were with each other. Jun was there, however, as were Ryo, Jin, Kame, and many of those in attendance at Pi’s failure of a birthday party.
“How the hell are we going to do that? They won’t even talk to each other,” Ryo growled.
Jin shook his head, “It’s not like they’re mad at each other--it’s just awkward for them. Pi complains about how uncomfortable he feels around Toma now.”
“And why does he feel awkward?! BECAUSE HE LOVES TOMA!” Ryo grunted.
Jun nodded his head in agreement, “These idiots are getting on my last nerve with their whole ‘he loves me, he loves me not’ routine they’ve got going on. I could kill them both--but then I’d just go to jail. I think if I would kill anyone it would be THAT JACKASS WHO HAS HIS HANDS ON OHNO EVEN THOUGH WE’RE DISCUSSING SOMETHING IMPORTANT!”
“Oh for the love of--” Ryo put his hand on his forehead as Jun went to separate Ohno and Nino, yet again. Nino, however, retaliated and pushed Jun back, prompting the younger man to grow even angrier.
“You son-of-a-bitch, I’ll kill you!” Jun growled as he lunged for Nino.
“I’d like to see you try! You haven’t done it yet!” Nino teased right back, dodging Jun’s attack.
But just as Aiba and Sho were to separate their friends, as was normal, they stopped when Ohno put up his hand.
“No--it’s okay. I’ve got this,” he smirked. He then turned to Jun and then to Nino, took each of their hands and said, “Why do you guys have to fight over me? The truth is--I like you both--a lot--and I’m willing to be shared if you’re willing to do the sharing.”
Jun and Nino didn’t say anything at first and everyone watching could on recoil in horror. They assumed that Ohno would get the living snot beat out of him for even suggesting an idea for two frenemies to share the object of their affections.
A couple more seconds before they both said in unison, “Okay.”
“WHAT?!” Ryo shouted, as others’ mouths dropped.
“Did you guys actually agree to share Ohno?” Sho asked, pointing nervously at his friends.
Nino and Jun both nodded.
Jun smiled, “Well--I like Ohno a lot--so I would be willing to share him--even if it means with Hamburger Hands here.”
Nino agreed, “Me too. I love Oh-chan and even though it kills me to share him, I’d do it--just to make him happy--and even if it means doing so with DoS man.”
“What’d you call me?!”
“You heard me!”
Ohno just laughed and put his arm around each man’s shoulders as they continued to bicker. Ryo rubbed his eyes to make sure what he was looking at was really occurring. He then went back to the plan.
“ANYWAYS--we gotta figure out a way for the two of them to get together in the same place--at the same time--and we have to keep them there until they make up.”
“We could--we could always lock them in a closet!” Jin chirped.
Ryo glared at him but then Kame spoke up.
“Wait, why can’t we lock them up together? Maybe not in a closet--but--we can get them say to this apartment, Ryo, and then--when the time is right, we leave them alone and see what happens--at a safe distance, of course.”
“Oh hell no--I’m not leaving them here together just so they can have sex on my brand new couch!” Ryo shuddered at the image in his head.
“Well, it’s a thought,” Kame shrugged his shoulders.
“WAIT--I’VE GOT IT!” a voice spoke up, one that had not been heard since all the drama had occurred.
“Eh?” Jin looked around to figure out who had spoken up.
“Tegonyan--was that you?” Ryo smirked.
The voice was Tegoshi Yuya, or Tegonyan as Ryo called him. He stepped out from behind a few of the taller men standing in front of him.
“Mmmhmm,” he smiled and nodded, “I had an idea. Now I know--last time at Pi’s party, it was a disaster--”
Everyone nodded their heads and chuckled softly.
“Well--we could do the same thing--but for a different party--Keii-chan’s birthday is coming up,” Tegoshi smiled widely.
“Oh no! We’re not messing up Keii’s birthday because of those two,” Shige defended.
“Yeah, Tesshi--I don’t know if that’s such a good idea,” Massu, who had also not spoken up much, added.
Meanwhile, Koyama was blushing at the mentioning of his birthday. He didn’t exactly want his own birthday to be overshadowed by the drama of Toma and Yamapi.
Ryo suggested something else, “I think we should come up with something else and--”
Then a knock was heard at the door.
“Who’s that?” Jin asked.
Ryo just shrugged his shoulders as he walked over to the door.
He opened it and his eyes grew big, “YAMAPI!”
“Hey, Ryo--I was bored and thought I--” Pi walked in but stopped when he saw so many of his friends in the same room, staring back at him, “Um--why is everyone here? Is there a party that I wasn’t told about and--wait, what’s going on?”
Ryo began to chuckle nervously, “Well--you see--”
Jin laughed also as did Kame and several others. No one was able to say what they were doing except, of course, for Jun.
“We’re trying to figure out a way so that you and Toma can get to talking again,” he said, crossing his arms and cocking his hip to the side; Ohno’s arm was still around his shoulder.
Pi’s cheeks went slightly pink and he began to laugh nervously as well, “You--you guys--you guys aren’t really--are you? I mean--are you?”
Pretty much everyone hung their heads in shame and nodded their heads as well, confirming what Jun had just told Yamapi.
Pi gulped.
“Why?”
Ryo sighed in a frustrated manner, “BECAUSE--because you two aren’t good at fighting with each other--as much as you want to be mad at Toma, you won’t stop talking about him--and you know, it’s getting on all our nerves--the way you’re constantly thinking about him--longing for him--acting like you need him just to continue living and--”
“RYO! I think he gets it,” Ueda interrupted.
Ryo’s cheeks went pink too, but instead of continuing scolding the other man, Ueda just walked up to his boyfriend and held his hand. He then looked at Yamapi and smiled, “Ryo just wants you two to make up so he doesn’t have to feel so guilty. I hope that you guys will work out your problems and have a happy life together.”
Pi made a weird face, “So you two are still together, right?”
Ueda nodded and laughed.
“And--what do you mean ‘have a happy life together’? It’s not like we’re getting married or something, Toma and I--”
“YOU AND TOMA ARE IN LOVE WITH ONE ANOTHER!” Ryo growled.
Pi’s heart sank. He felt so much embarrassment at that moment that he almost couldn’t speak.
“W-What?”
Ryo walked forward, gently letting go of Ueda’s hand and looking his best friend straight in the eye.
“Why do you think you two get so jealous whenever one of you hangs out with the other? It’s not just a normal friendship, like you’ve always believed. You’re in love with him, Pi. And deep down, I’m sure you know that.”
“I--I--I--”
Pi looked around as everybody stared at him. His cheeks were growing hotter and he wanted to run but his feet wouldn’t move.
“I KNOW I AM!”
A unified gasp went across the room as everybody looked shocked to hear Pi finally confess what everyone had already suspected.
“You--what did you say?” Ryo stuttered.
Pi exhaled, “I know--I know--I know I’m in love with Toma! I love him, Ryo! I love my best friend, Toma Ikuta! I’m in love with him!”
“Then why the hell are you still here?!”
“Eh?”
Ryo laughed in a sarcastic manner, “You’ve barely realized something that all of us have known for a pretty long time and--you’re confessing to us? We’re not the ones you’re in love with--go to Toma! Tell him how you feel! And don’t come back until you two motherfuckers are dating!”
Pi gave another strange look but then Ryo gave a friendly shove and he smiled. He didn’t say anything, he just smiled and ran out of the apartment and out the building.
“Do you think Toma will reciprocate Yamapi’s feelings?” Ueda asked as he grabbed Ryo’s hand again.
Ryo sighed and looked away in a sort of heroic stance, “One can only hope so--”
“Oh, Ryo--you’re so cool!” Ueda squealed in a disturbing manner.
Ryo laughed and embraced his boyfriend, before kissing him on the forehead.
Toma was eating a bowl of cereal and sitting on his couch, watching the news. He had his cell phone next to him and would check it every 5 seconds to see if someone, anyone, had texted him. Of course, no one did since they were all busy devising their plan to get Toma and Pi talking to each other.
“Where is everybody?” he said, pouting just a bit.
Then a knock at the door came and Toma jumped up, feeling shocked at first but then excited, hoping it was one of his friends ready to hang out.
He smiled and opened the door but the smile disappeared when he saw who was on the other side.
“Y-Y-Yamapi?”
Pi was gasping and panting, bent over, trying to catch his breath.
“I--I--” he gasped.
“Whoa--have you been running? Come on, sit down--take a breather,” Toma pulled Yamapi into the apartment and lead him to the couch to sit down.
Pi practically collapsed on the couch cushions, taking deep breaths and gasping for air. Toma sat down next to him and looked over his friend with a concerned expression on his face. Yamapi noticed and took one more breath before sitting up straight and turning towards Toma.
Toma was caught off-guard and fumbled a bit on the couch. Pi looked into the other’s eyes, reaching for his hand and taking it in his hands.
“Uh--Pi?”
“Toma, I--” Pi took another breath and exhaled deeply, his heart beating faster and faster as he felt Toma’s hand in his.
“Toma, I--”
“What’s going on? Ew--you’re all sweaty,” Toma broke free from Pi’s grip and wiped his hand on the couch.
Pi growled, feeling frustrated that Toma was ruining the moment with his disgust at Pi’s perspiring.
“Toma, I--”
“What are you doing running around the neighborhood anyways? I thought you only worked out at home and the gym. You’re crazy to run around in traffic when--”
Yamapi couldn’t take anymore of Toma’s incessant chattering and just grabbed him, planting a passionate kiss on the older man’s lips. Toma’s eyes were wide open while Pi’s closed, shut and tight. The younger man’s arms were wrapped tightly around Toma’s waist and Toma could feel Yamapi grip even tighter. The kiss lasted longer than he expected but instead of pushing Pi off, which was what he thought he would do in that situation, Toma clutched at Pi’s clothes and held the other man’s body close to his. The taste of Yamapi in his mouth made Toma’s legs go weak and even though he was sitting down, he felt like he would lose his balance and fall backwards.
Of course, that’s exactly what happened, and Toma fell back on his couch with Yamapi on top of him. They didn’t let go of each other and only briefly separated to get air but neither one said a single word. It didn’t even seem like they needed to say anything; they knew exactly how the other one felt without any words needing to be expressed.
Pi slowly slid his hand up Toma’s shirt and touched the hardening nipples on the older man’s chest. Toma gasped a bit, feeling aroused at the feel of Pi’s hand on him. The younger man then lifted Toma’s shirt and pulled it up over his head, throwing it on the floor without a second thought. He planted kisses on Toma’s neck and gently sucked on the skin underneath his earlobe. Toma continued gasping and put his hands in Pi’s hair, grabbing the strands and holding them tight.
Yamapi then took off Toma’s pants, slowly undoing the belt, loop by loop, as if to prolong the experience as much as he could. He didn’t look Toma in the eyes out of fear of freezing up and not being able to finish what he had already started. Unfortunately for him, Toma’s eyes were fixed on him, half-closed in a sultry fashion that would have made Pi do more than just freeze if he had seen them. He eventually got the older man’s belt off as well as his pants and started fingering him through his boxer shorts. Toma panted, moaning at the feeling he got from Pi’s skillful hand job.
“Pi--” he moaned.
Pi then went in for another kiss and made this one even harder than the previous ones. His tongue swirling around in Toma’s mouth made the latter arch his back up and down. Toma groaned as Pi continued kissing his neck and playfully nibbling at his ear. Pi rubbed himself against Toma’s waist, making his own member much harder. That was it, Pi couldn’t take it anymore; as much as he wanted to wait and make the encounter last longer, he felt himself about to burst.
In a flash, his pants and underwear were out and he found himself grabbing for a bottle of lotion that was nearby for some reason. He didn’t think to question why it had been there and just poured some of the substance on his fingers before rubbing it on his dick. He didn’t like masturbating in front of Toma but he saw that it was only making Toma more aroused.
He moaned as he touched himself, straddled on top of Toma who was eager to have Pi inside of him.
“Yamapi--please,” he practically begged, and Pi knew what he had to do. He pumped more of the lotion out and rubbed it on his fingers before sticking them inside of Toma’s entrance.
“Mmmm,” Toma whimpered, trying his hardest to keep himself from coming prematurely.
Pi was only becoming more turned on as he saw Toma look so vulnerable and so sexy at the same time.
In almost an instance, he was inside of Toma, grinding down on the older man’s waist and making both of them moaned with pleasure.
“PI!”
“TOMA!”
Toma wrapped his arms around Pi’s neck and grabbed onto his hair, feeling Pi move around inside of him made him clutch at the hairs even harder. A minute later and both ended up climaxing, with combined loudness, which echoed inside of Toma’s empty apartment.
When all was done, they lie there together, not saying anything but knowing exactly what had just happened. But the silence didn’t last for long because they both had to say something.
“I--” they said at the same time.
They both laughed but instead of doing the usual and telling each other to speak first, they spoke at the same time.
“I love you!”
Both looked a bit shocked and their only reaction was to kiss each other hard on the mouth. Pi laughed and Toma nuzzled his neck.
“I can’t believe--after everything--”
“Yeah--me neither--”
“Who knew--I mean--”
“I know.”
Although they spoke in fragments, it was obvious that their closeness transcended normal communication skills and they were able to say so much with as few words as possible.
Pi laughed again, “Should we go report back to everyone?”
“Huh?”
“Oh wait--they wanted me to report back to them--when you and I were together--apparently, they all knew that you and I were in love with each other.”
Toma looked stunned but then he smiled, “It would’ve been nice if they would have told us!”
Pi laughed harder and embraced Toma, kissing the top of his head. Toma felt so safe and comfortable in Pi’s arms, like it was exactly where he belonged.
“I love you, Yamapi.”
“I love you, too, Toma.”
Toma smiled whole-heartedly. They were words he had heard before but this was the first time they had such a different and more important meaning to him.
“DID YOU DO IT?!”
Toma and Pi both blushed. They were sitting, holding hands on Ryo’s couch, being interrogated by their friends who were anxious to know all the filthy details about how they got together.
Pi coughed, “Um--we--uh--
“Yes,” Toma simply said.
Pi looked at him, shocked that he would be so blunt but he just nodded his head in agreement.
Everyone cheered in unison, giving each other high fives and patting the happy couple on their shoulders.
“It’s about damn time!” Ryo laughed.
Everyone nodded in agreement. Toma and Pi just laughed; they each looked at each other and smiled warmly.
Ryo was right; it was about damn time that these two best friends were more aware of the real feelings that lay deep within them. Toma finally knew it and so did Yamapi; they weren’t just possessive friends, they were two people who loved each other more than anything.
