OK, so one of the first things I notice with your diet is that it seems to include a LOT of processed sugars and carbs. These are great for quick energy, but you WILL be hungry two hours later. For breakfast, I'd recommend including something with a protein source (I do smoothies with yogurt and protein powder, or a biscuit or burrito with eggs and cheese and meat of some sort). Lunch for me varies, but I try to eat that at a set time (between 11 and 1-ish), and again, include protein. Dinner generally involves veggies of some sort, and yup...protein again.
For example, today, my diet consisted of:
Breakfast: homemade smoothie with blueberries, strawberries, raspberries, yogurt, protein powder, and almond milk, and homemade granola bars.
Lunch: 1/4 of an Italian coldcut sub, about half a bag of Baked Lay's, orange
Dinner: The other 1/4 of the sub
Post-workout snack: The rest of my smoothie from the morning
I make it a point to try to pre-make breakfast and lunch/dinner on the weekends, so that most of my meals can be eaten on the run. I'm happy to share specific recipes with you if you're interested. :)
Oh, I do not deny the horribleness of my processed sugar diet.
I just don't know how to proceed into forcing myself to believe that healthy food tastes good and isn't going to leave me starving within 3 minutes of eating it.
A big part of it is my living situation. I hate living at home with my parents. My dad is a fat cow who doesn't think twice about eating a package of cookies as his breakfast. Therefore he's less than supportive of trying to get the crap food out of the house, because it's all he eats. So until I move out (which doesn't make much sense because even if I moved in with Mike, I'd add a good 45 min on to my commute to school, 25 to work, and 30 to the barn... whereas it's currently 15 to school, 5 to work, and walking distance to the barn)
Eggs make me vomit. Instantly. I have no idea why. I've tried imitation eggs, egg whites, etc, and I get the same reaction. Then again, if I want to go buliemic, I guess I could just eat eggs. I wish I could eat them, you have no idea how much I wish I could.
I'm not sure how to help you get over the mental block of "healthy food". I've always been a believer of moderation; i.e. if I want a piece of chocolate, I'll allow myself to have one. Another thing I'll do is go for quality over quantity. I'm a foodie, and being a foodie sort of goes hand-in-hand with good, healthy eating. Getting back to the chocolate example, I'll buy the Lindt 70% cacao bars. Now, these are about $3 a bar, but I am literally only able to eat a square or two at a time...it's that. Rich. With ice cream, I'll get the pints of Starbucks ice cream or Ciao Bella gelatos and sorbets...again, quality over quantity.
There are other protein sources besides eggs...there's peanut butter, protein powder which can be mixed into smoothies, yogurt, meat such as bacon and ham, etc. :)
I have zero willpower. That's the problem. "I'll just have one" turns in to an entire bag/box/carton gone. I feel horrible afterwards, and I've even caught myself telling me to STOP while eating, but I just can't. I don't know how to explain it. :/
