oh my god, this is the second time i am writing this comment. it got deleted before so hopefully i can remember everything i said! sorry for any typos. i'm in an internet cafe and they keyboards are really stiff.

first, i applied early to syracuse. so that made things easier, not having to do home exams for other schools.

all the art students are in the art school because they want to be, so i guess that makes them serious. everyone also knows that they are lucky to be there-- i dont think anyone takes the program for granted.

i dont like syracuse because basically all there is to do is go to frat parties, get trashed, or go to sports events. no one else seems to mind that though. also i come from a small all girls boarding school in new england, so a big university was overwhelming. syracuse prides itself with it's diversity, but really there isn't too much.

parsons is a great school but just very different from syracuse, for obvious reasons. SU is a community. there are organized events, and a real campus. i dont think you would get that community atmosphere at parsons because it is a city school. it's more non-traditional than SU. one way is not better than the other--they are just different ways of experiencing college. my friend at parsons has had some great opportunities by living in the city. she has met tons of people, oscar de la renta, vera wang, nanette lapore, d2, to name a few. it's this thing that either barney's or bergdorf's does for a month. they bring in designers to the store and it sound pretty exciting. she was also able to get close to the gates exhibit. being up in syracuse is definitely not as convenient.

what i mean by unfriendly competition at parsons and risd is this:

because both schools cater to very independent individuals, you don't see the type of sorority girl bonds and close knit groups as you would at SU. instead, students have to kind of fend for themselves at these schools. these are exact words i have heard about life at risd. people who sit next to you in class won't even talk to you because everyone is overly concerned with being the best and spend less time trying to make friends. it's just a more competitive atmosphere from what i hear.

i feel like my answers have been very unclear, so i'm not sure how much help i am. you can ask me anything else or when i get back to school you can im me because i'm usually around.

SarRENityNow is my aim. good luck!
