When I had my
vitrectomy last year for the macular hole in my retina, I was warned that the surgery would almost certainly cause a cataract to develop in that eye. For a while, I thought I'd managed to be in the small percentage who hadn't, and I just couldn't get my glasses prescription correct.
But I finally discovered that the cataract that was developing was not the traditional cloudy version, but had to do with the texture of the lens, and that's why my prescription kept changing.
So today I bit the bullet and made an appointment with the surgeon that my retinal specialist had recommended. I'll see him on Thursday, and I'll probably have surgery sometime in January.
My father keeps saying, "It'll be the easiest surgery you ever had." Which isn't saying much, since the only other surgeries I've had were a T&A at age 3 and the vitrectomy last year. I hope he's right, though.
